Morning Bill. Could you see the Flyers going the Sheldon Keefe route for the next coach ? Was reading his bio and he’s had success everywhere and I’m assuming he’s good with younger players.

Let's hope Kapanen can unearth some strong European prospects. We desperately need some of that strong European skill and style of play in the lineup. Flyers lineup is predominantly North American.

I was more thinking we need a Chris vandevelde . Bottom 6 staple that the coach trusts

Specifically Keefe (Toronto seems to be in good shape in their playoff series) or a similar type of still-young coach?

Similar in his youth , style, methods. I’m assuming the Flyers will be getting younger if the kids are staying with the big club.

I think they will go for Boudreau (if available), Maurice, Tocch or Tortorella. Possibly Monty.

Also, I would not be surprised if Brink and Attard start 2022-23 in the AHL barring a torrid camp. I do expect York in the NHL. Frost will no longer be waiver exempt, nor will be Tippett, Allison or Laczynski.

I don't think there is any doubt that Attard starts in the AHL. He needs some seasoning. Brink probably needs some time to get stronger physically.

If these are the names….He could of basically answered the question the other day with regards to the coach. “We want someone with experience” ….code for “same as my last choice”.
Considering what the results were no wonder he dodged the question.

Given Fletcher's job is on the line and he is needs to get this hire right, I don't see how he can take a chance on a younger coach that does not have a proven NHL track record. That spells trouble for the Flyers future IMO. Maurice is nothing more than a .500 coach in his entire career that has coached talented teams that never quite made it over the hump. Tocchet is another below .500 coach, albeit 4 years in Arizona will do that to a coach. Boudreau IMO is an overrated foul-mouthed tub of goo and I believe he will stay in Vancouver if he can. Torts is Torts, a timebomb waiting to explode and IMO has lost his fast ball as a coach given his record at Columbus. I think it would be a mistake to hire any of these rethreads. Monty is intriguing, as is the Swedish coach Rikard Grönborg who apparently is open to coming to the NHL and I would bet would rather coach the Flyers than the Sabres. If it were me, I would look seriously at Lane Lambert, but again I don't see Fletcher willing to take the risk on an unproven commodity.

My understanding with Brink is he needs to lose some body fat and get leaner. Not sure how I feel about a player that apparently has this type of issue at this level.

Attard 100% in the AHL to start is best for hi imo.

Does Zamula get traded? Just a hunch he doesn't fit into their plans.

Ratcliff also no longer waiver exempt I think.

yep it will be a typical lazy hire. No imagination, not real thought process. None wlil move needle enough.

Torts is a guy you bring in to take the next step. Like him though not for the this team at this time.

Of them the best guy to take a shot (no pun intended) is Montgomery

agree as not huge fan at all.

Why hasn't Lambert been picked before? must be some red flag.

Why would Gronberg rather coach the flyers over the sabres? Sabres not looking for a coach anyway.

With all due respect Bill, I wouldn’t be happy with any of those. Just don’t see anyone in that group to mold, lead, and teach young players how to be NHL’ers. Seems like a quick lazy hire.

Remember when they hired outside the box and brought in Hakstol? That worked out tremendously.

It doesn't matter what they do, they will continue to fail miserably with Scott, Fletcher, Clarke, Holmgren and the rest of the circus clowns in place.

Haxstol was nowhere near as bad as made out to be. Had crap teams and overall didnt do to bad. Was one of the few things I give the Saint credit for is he didnt hire a retread.

He took a chance. Unlike boring predictable Chuck.

Fletcher's job is absolutely not on the line. He has been taught the secret handshake and password for the Flyers executive for life club.

Is it possible he'll lose his GM title? Sure, but that's about the extent of it and would only be to appease the fans. He's in the country club and will be Flyers President until he retires.

It's strange that the Flyers are the only one of his stops that made him President of the hockey club is it not? Isn't that usually reserved for GMs who have won something? Even Paul Holmgren was not GM and President at the same time. There's nowhere left to promote Fletcher to.
