Loved the celly, good energy at the end there. Maybe they can carry some of it over into the rest of this tough upcoming schedule.

You could see how well-liked Jordan is by his teammates. They really hung on to him and razed him for a while after that OT winner!
Yeah, Gibby is one hell of a goaltender and well worth his money!
The Wings held the Ducks to only 15 shots! They need to do this more often!
Zadina gets on the scoresheet!
I don't agree with the refs decision to put their whistles in their pockets.... I guess they had somewhere else they were in a hurry to get to!

There is rumors that Petry demanded for a trade. 6.25 per for 3 more years for a RHD and being from Michigan, he seems like he would be a good fit.

I can't imagine he would come cheap but would you want him on this team and at what price?

Wings do not have a need for RD, can Petry play the left side? I do not think Stevie trades for him unless the Habs retain $1-2M or offer a very significant sweetner. It is reported that Montreal will NOT retain salary or offer a sweetener. Not happening til they change their attitude. Petry's family remained in MI this season, so Jeff is miserable.....

I would have liked to have him 5-7 years ago.

Has been a very good and underrated player for a long time, and it's possible that with a change of scenery (unbelievably, Montreal might actually be even worse than we were a couple years ago when Jimmy Howard couldn't stop a beach ball), he might, and I emphasize might, rebound with a few more good years left in the tank.

But on the other hand he's 34, having his worst season in ages, and has 3+ years left on a very expensive contract.

It would be a gamble and I'm sure I'd be super comfortable making it.

Hard no on Petry... he's on the wrong side of 30 and too expensive. I just want to get Edvinsson to North America to help our swiss cheese defense. Can't come soon enough.

Going to the Griffins game tomorrow. Will see how Berggren is doing.

Sven... you catch any games yet this season ? I've been to a few the last couple months.

I have not, unfortunately. Between my new job, my 2-year-old, regular Wednesday night commitments and a global pandemic, finding the time and opportunity to get to games regularly has been somewhat harder than it used to be.

Would like to get to at least a couple before the end of the season. We'll see.

Honest question. Why are some folks always infatuated with bringing in Michigan boys? I want the best players available at the best value. Don’t care if that means bringing someone in from Australia.

I don't think most fans (or teams for that matter) really care all that much one way or another about where a player is from. Though certainly the Red Wings brought in and continued to re-sign a ton of replacement-level Michiganders over the last decade or so.

I think it's more about the fact that the player himself might be more amenable to taking a discount or waiving an NMC/NTC to play close to home.

Detroit isn't the most desirable place to play. Winters suck. The lifestyle for spouses isn't that exciting. No beach. No Broadway. Taxes arent cheap. The team hasn't been competitive and is still years away. So bringing in UFAs or extending RFAs isn't as easy as you think. But a guy with local ties might be more willing to stick around. Not saying that makes Petry a target. Pretty dumb idea.

Slater Koekkoek on waivers, claim him and sit Dekeyser?

I dunno, the idea of claiming Koekkoek gets a solid "meh" from me. He strikes me as a competent third-pairing guy and his contract is cheap enough to be buried in the AHL if it doesn't work out.

I mean, he's at best a hole filler but the entire left side of the defense is nothing but holes right now. I don't think there's a particularly compelling reason to claim him but I also wouldn't be mad if we did.

Yzerman does love the guy. So maybe he wants to have him in the room, especially if a couple of veterans get moved. But his play on the ice is an AHLer. Better guys on waivers all the time.

Personally I don't really care if there's hometown players on a team as I don't live anywhere close to an NHL city. It probably wouldn't have an impact if I did either. I just know that some markets seem to like having a local player on their roster.

And a lot of local payers wish to play for the hometown teams. But I don't see Bergeron going to Montreal to play next year.

Not an exciting move but I wonder if Stevie would take back Nemeth for a placeholder on LD. Rangers need a roster spot to add a LD and I suppose he would be accompanied with a sweetener.
Yeah, it would have to be Nemeth and Kaapo for Namestnikov

Kakko isn't realistic IMO, Kravstrov maybe.

LA once again exposing the lack of overall team speed.
