sure you have some "colons de souche" like Réjean Tremblay who have a very archaic way of thinking, but I completely disagree with your assessment, and I find it's sort of insulting lol... yes, the province of Quebec definitely represents a minority in North America, and yes, the habs have a very important cultural significance for the province, so I don't see the big deal in wanting someone that does speak French to be hired. I guess you can't please everyone lol...

je suis d'accord si tu t'attardes à des opinions comme celles de Réjean Tremblay, mais c'est pas représentatif de l'opinion générale des Québécois selon moi.

I'd argue if you ignored all that and just looked at the actions of the Habs when hiring and their rationale for french only candidates it is just as obvious but I'll take this and call it time to let it go
