I figure you had a great view of how those final seconds unfolded.

Yes we did. Had a great night out in the city.

Thanks again.

Georgi just looks to be fighting the puck too much. Not a good time for him to slump. However, his salary is so high, I just don't see anyone claiming him off waivers. Sending him to Hartford to re-claim his game might be the way to go.

Chytil and Gauthier are THISCLOSE to putting it all together: fingers crossed they both take the next step.

Who would have thought that 3 Rangers defensmen could score in the same game and Fox wouldn't be one of them?

Tinordi was simply AWFUL, hard to see him getting back on the ice anytime soon. Time to see Hajek get a shot.

Simply a big NO to Maroon...

In the last blog, I am admittedly on the fence about Maroon, but why is it a hard pass?

Lundkvist needs to be back in. Hajek can get back in but it shouldn't be against the Isles. The Isles are going to be in desperation mode.

It's crazy what a meat grinder the Metro is. There's going to be at least 1 team that looks like they vastly underachieved, but it's the nature of our division. Pens and Isles are really digging themselves a hole.

I mean, people are going to have to face the facts that they are gonna bring in players that Gallant likes

I don't know if there is anything to Maroon but its pretty safe to say he'd be the kind of guy Gallant likes

Seems like a reasonable enough Blais replacement. He's been at least a productive player still.

welcome back

I share the same concerns as Jan which would be... why would Tampa be looking trade him? His contract is negligible

Gotta give Chytil credit, he’s looking awesome lately. Do like the idea of moving him with Kreider and Mika though, at least for a few games. That could be a deadly line.

Also, with the Strome line clicking I see him staying beyond this year. Is replacing Nemeth, Tinordi and Georgiev with minimum/rookie contracts enough to get it done?

All last night was trying to figure out who the Sabres head coach reminds me of. Just figured it out. Real life version of Mr. Mackey from South Park? Definitely a little bit

It depends on the cap. It's not an apples to apples comparison, but with revenue coming back from Covid, the NFL cap is expected to jump up big time. If there's a big jump in the cap, could be doable.

agreed, but I can certainly see them interested in Kravtsov though

he can slide into that spot next that will be vacant when they let Palat walk

who knows with these rumours, its such a rarity that one of them actually happens

Maroon for Kravtsov sounds like a deal Neil Smith would make in the late 90s I’d hope they’d get a pretty good prospect with him. Preferably a center. They definitely draft well so I like that part of it. But not in love with this rumor at all

Honestly, even if Tampa was interested and they had the best offer, I'd say (frank) that. If Kravtsov is truly never playing for us again I'd prefer to send him somewhere he won't win a cup

Also, Tampa is bereft of any real prospects

We cant move Chytil to the wing without someone to center the 3rd line. He was discussed in the offseason and is having a real good start to the year, Adam Henrique.

He is a physical winger, but not really a replacement for Blais.
He is on the downside of his career. He was never a great skater, now his penalty minutes are way up due to his having lost a step. Why give up Kravstov for this guy?

Whats next, Yanni Gourde to complete the trio?

While this is true it would still leave the team wanting a better performing winger.

Maroon would be that body in front on the 2nd powerplay that would make him valuable. Problem is, Kreider takes the spot on the 1st unit and they stay out there for 1:30 the Maroon's value in that sense in negligible.

I think the team still wants a shooter for the wing with Zib and Kreider...or a crafty playmakers that can free up Zib to be that shooter. I don't think Maroon fills either of those roles.

and bereft of draft picks as well, other than their first

I'd probably do Tampa's first and Maroon for Kravtsov though

but them trading their first rounder takes a bullet away from them adding at the deadline and doing their salary cap magic

Fair enough. I'm not gung ho on Maroon, but he's reasonably effective for what he is. There are without question better options out there. An interesting team to watch would be Vancouver. They will be in deep doo doo cap wise, and they aren't going anywhere fast. Getting someone like Horvat makes too much sense to everyone involved.

Get Horvat, move Chytil to wing and I think we have a good roster.

if we somehow got Horvat, that would prevent us from resigning Strome. We'd probably have to move Chytil back to center next year if we couldn't find a 3rd line center that we can afford (probably $2-$3m at most).
