Hains: Game 19: Throwing in the Towel
Tonight, the Canadiens were humiliated 6-0 at home by a Pittsburgh team that is also struggling this season but looked like they were the Stanley Cup champions facing a disorganized and disinterested Montreal side.

It's high time to go back to the drawing board, clean house, exit Bergevin and his multiple 5-year plans
To be fair to Bergevin, the 5-year plan thing was from the Gainey-Gauthier era. For some reason, media decided to pin that on him. He never talked about 5 year plans.

I didn’t see the game.
But I assume goaltending was an issue.
Also, is it possible this team has quit on ducharme?

Pretty much sums up my thoughts. The fan base wants a blow up, bergevin has no contract for next year. It’s up to the owner at this point to fix it.

It’s a group full of unmotivated veterans. It seems like they all know last year was their best shot at the cup. Time to cut bait with them all. Best for them and the team

I think his plan was to build through the draft, then it got screwed up a bit because in the shortened 2013 season they surprised and made the playoffs, which was the worst thing that could have happened to them.
Then expectations quickly rose up and they had no choice but to try to patch things to make it to the next step right away.
Add to that an owner that clearly doesn't want to hear the word "rebuild", well...you have the result we have now.

To be fair, I don't think MB ever really had any plan, other than dealing with the immediate issue(s), which as we have seen, is not a way to deal with building a long term foundation for team.
MB is not a visionary in any sense, he is completely reactionary... Mostly to cover up his own (frank) ups or lack of real long-term planning.
People talk about leadership, or lack of on this team, bit it starts at the top
I find it interesting that the Rangers owners came out a few years ago with their statement, and recently, we have seen the Canucks ownership get involved.
But (frank) all from Molson.
This whole organization stinks worse than a tuna sandwich that has been sitting in Tupperware on a hot sunny day.

if your plan is to rebuild through the draft, keeping Treveur might not be the best way to go...

When you give that contract to Price you don’t really have a choice

let say he gives 8M to Price instead of 10.5M, the vision is still not there.
when you build the wings before building the center line... when you build your dcore to play 70' hockey... when your star goalie gets older and injured... when you cannot draft to save your life....
there's so much a good trade will save.

No but withPrice at 8m he is tradeable and you don’t feel you have to go all-in every year. You can rebuild whitout being putrid, trade him the last year of his contract to a contender for a good return.
