Time for Rocky to answer questions about the Aldrich coverup. Lawsuit(s) be damned - this franchise needs more transparency than it’s shown so far. Davidson had been the highest ranking member of management to answer questions - and before him, Colliton was.

If they want to get it behind them, get it out there and start getting ahead of it. Don’t let the lawyers stop them from doing the right thing.

From Lazarus and Powers in today’s The Athletic:

No one from the Blackhawks’ ownership and executive group — chairman Rocky Wirtz, CEO Danny Wirtz and president of hockey operations Jaime Faulkner — was present for Sunday’s news conference.
The Blackhawks’ introduction of a new head coach in the past has been a much bigger event. John McDonough, Dale Tallon and Scotty Bowman were sitting at a table when Joel Quenneville was introduced in 2008. Rocky Wirtz also attended that event. For Jeremy Colliton’s introductory news conference, Wirtz, McDonough and Stan Bowman were at a table and took questions from the media.

Thats not going to happen, and shouldn't while there is ongoing law suits.

While I get the point he should talk to the public about it, lawyers can twist even the most of innocent words into a death sentence.

If its me, I ain't talking at this point, but would once its over.

Phuck the lawsuits. Phuck the lawyers. They’ve already made a public commitment to working out a “fair settlement” with Beach - did they mean that? If so, whatever they say won’t matter much. At some point, do the right thing.

This is Rocky’s legacy here. He was always out there, sitting in his seats basking in the glow of on-ice and financial success after he took over the team. Now that “disaster” has struck, he shouldn’t be hiding - take charge, get out there, screw the lawyers and PR guys. The more the transparency - and the quicker it happens (and that includes settling the lawsuits) - the sooner he reclaims the value (not just financial value) of this organization.

He’s the owner, he and Danny run the Company - he has to get into the public.

Or is he resigned to having a tarnished legacy like his father has?

Agreed, not sure why it is thought that more transparency is needed. This fiasco has already cost Rocky millions, and the worst part isn’t over. “Anything you say can and will be used against you”. Kyle B. Came forward to tell his side, Rocky had the findings from their investigation published, anything else will come out during the legal proceedings. For me it’s time to focus on the hockey, and the rebuilding of the organization required to get this club back to playing competitive and, dare I dream, winning hockey again

If Rocky says he was not notified about the incident until after Aldrich was fired and neither Beach or his agent ever contacted him directly. It seemed to be a minor incident at the time. He knew very very few details. Beach played three more years under his entry level contract then re-signed with the Hawks for one more year and never asked to be traded. Would that suffice.

Nice to get a win for the new guy.

I saw that the internet doctors and shrinks were out last night diagnosing players and coaches by "reading between the lines". Maybe, just maybe, the boys were relieved that this change - which they were certainly aware was coming at some point - finally happened?

Toews asked a reporter to repeat a question - omg, he has Covid-induced Alzheimer's!!!

Also, now I learned from the wise folks on the board that JC was over coaching. Here I thought it was that he didn't know squat!

The biggest stat of the game was .952. If the goalies had more of those, they'd have more wins. They did give up seven high danger scoring chances 5-on-5. They gave up fewer several times this year and lost.

King hit the right notes for the short time frame he had. Not changing the system and telling the boys to just go play worked well. For now.

Westhead, Lazerus and Powers are like CNN and Fox News. They are going for the ratings. I don’t want this swept under the rug. Hawks handled this extremely poorly. They were 100% wrong. They have admitted that. Keeping this at the forefront is a ratings grab. I don’t need to hear anything other than they reach a fair settlement. Of course I suspect Beach and his lawyer will be in every media outlet saying the millions the Hawks are offering is not enough and the Hawks are billionaires being cheap.

Like any fan loved the effort, style points and results of the win but all that is far far down the list to GM Davidson's comments on why King and not Crawford to coach the group right now.

“This wasn’t a Derek versus Marc decision,” Davidson said. “It was very much what I wanted. Marc was entrenched in the coaching staff, and I thought that the person at the top of the pyramid should be from the outside. Derek’s not far away in Rockford, but he’s still an outside perspective, an outside voice at the top of that pyramid. So that was the thought process on that.”

Beyond happy/relieved to read/hear terms like top of the pyramid, outside perspective/voice (fresh eyes) coming from upper management. No way to know if these words and terms are floating around the very top of the organIzation or if that's exclusive to Davidson but I'm gonna hang my hopes for the future on this.

For those of us who have been using terms like fresh eyes and top of the pyramid for yrs now this is a damn fine thing to hear out loud as the organIzation moves towards restructuring from top to bottom.

As far as the game my hopes were to simplify, cut down on HDCA and that would reduce the clown show sequences and sure enough. No different than a HS team some structure brings results and results bring confidence. Yea, it was an offensively challenged NSH squad with their top guy in Forsberg out but the win and structure that eliminated the clown show stretches will give the group hope.

This is all on McD. Why haven't the "reporters" knocked on his door yet? I am sure Rocky had no clue about this while it was going on. I really hope McD has to "pay" for his sins just as all the others had to lose their jobs over this. His hands are the dirtiest.

Outplayed Nashville for stretches. Out shot them. Still very scary in their own end, but in totality.....one of their best games of the year (not saying much, I know).

Glad Colliton is gone. His system just not working and zero progress since he started.

Fresh start. Hope we see some improvement going forward.

Well said. But if Fleury had a save percentage of .952 in a few games we might have won more games and they would not have fired Colliton. So……

But the .952 was on only 21 shots, I doubt his save % would be .952 on 40 shots.

Just don't think its a story 3 months from now. I won't argue that his name will be tarnished with you and some others, but for most of the public, attention spans don't allow them to lose sleep over this even this long like it does you. Not saying its right, just saying its human nature of the current day.

As others have since posted, if Rocky wasn't told right away and no one reached out to him until they served a law suit 11 years later, not sure what he was supposed to do. Is it naïve to think that no one told him during the playoffs that year, maybe, but guess i can see it both ways. I can certainly see McD, telling all in that meeting to keep that under raps for now.

Thank you, even though I get accused of being a conspiracy theorist by some here, i think this is the most glaring "strange" and unexplained point about this entire thing.

If I was a reporter, after Stan, who by the way, on his way out basically threw McD under the bus and pointed out he was responsible and did nothing, the first story I'd be trying to get to would be McD. And if he wouldn't give me one, I'd be pointing out in stories that he won't talk, and was the most responsible. None of that has happened.

Yep, and as interest in this tragedy wanes guys like Lazerus, who pays his mortgage on clicks, will write about it less and less and probably only when there is new news.

Add that we can be sure the Hawks have hired the best spinmasters money can buy this story will fade.

Yep, and when shots and HDCA start to mount players start to try and do too much, try to do the other guy's job is when structure breaks down, the clown show starts and it snowballs.

Simplify, less is more, do your job and not your teammates and you have structure.

Someone needs to tell Jim Acosta John McD's name and that Trump was involved in this scandal and he will be all over it.
