Wasn't able to watch the game but when I got home I texted my dad for a brief summary which roughly aligns with your thoughts, Bill. "Without Hart they would've been down by 4 or 5. Not good." |

watching last night....almost makes me wish we brought carter back to finish his career with us.
pens always give them a hard time....like NJ. Just frustrating. IMO that should've been a win just due to the depleted line up.
the new pp model seems like they are trying to replicate Boston. |

By far. He was awful.

Nate Thompson always competes hard is code for Nate aint very good.
When the player himself says he is more a winger these days and yet continues to be played as a center is on the coaches and management. Frost has been producing of late. It is time to see what he can do. We know what Brassard offers.
Cant count on Ellis so also time to call up a dman. |

Bill,
This was a brave column. You got up at 5:00 a.m. to do the work, then you called out a lot of the team despite the fact that you essentially work with them.
Awesome. That's why I read you everyday. |

lines need to be adjusted. same with g...he can't play center all year, but would put him there for a few until hayes is healthy. or put him on scott's wing. lines need to be shuffled.
i get call another d man up....but who. York? just for his sake not sure if i would want him out there if they are floundering.
wonder if nate is helping develop bunnaman. |

Good analysis Bill. The Flyers have been lucky to still be able to claim some points with substandard play. I’m hoping the return of Ellis and Hayes gives the lineup the boost it needs. It’s a long season. |

The Flyers did not seem to care and the game was almost boring to watch. Hart saved the day several times, but that was as ugly a performance against Pittsburgh that I have seen a long time. AV must have had his martini early..... |

With new veterans & the turnover the team went through in the summer maybe it’s time for the Giroux apologists to see the truth? The guy puts up points but stinks as a leader thus the reason why this team looks mostly the same (uninspired) for a majority of games this year. Jake can no longer be blamed so whose the scapegoat now for the last decade of mediocrity. Morgan Frost? Nate Thompson? The same popcorn vendor that has been employed for G’s captain tenure? The problem has always started atvthe top w him yet people are blinded by his stats. Lackadaisical culture created by the C. |

Pretty mind boggling if that’s what AV’s comments were. He might have lower expectations for this group than I do! |

I believe that Vigneault sees the same things we do. My personal opinion is that he is just trying to keep the team positive so it doesn't snowball like it did last year. Not sure how effective that is going to be. I think he could find a way to be more truthful of the reality without flat out ripping the team.

To not have the team sleep walk through games. Loose to a depleted penguins team which would have been a way worse score if not for hart. To not play a 0 0 game for over half of the game against a winless echl team in the coyotes. To flat out not show up against calgary. Need I continue? |
