From high atop the FLA Live Arena, that was a well played and convincing win. Panthers dominated from the get go.
Barkov asserted himself and was really controlling the ice. His goal was a spectacular move.
Bennett was on fire and seemingly always in the right place at the right time.
Tippett was showing some toughness and physicality. I think his confidence is really growing.
Nice to see Huberdeau pick up his 500th point for the Panthers. Well done Jonny! He also played a very physical game.
Bob played like the Bob we all hoped to see; two outstanding performances in two games this season.
The defense is really improved this year; very solid. There's almost nothing to complain about now that Yandle is gone. Weegar's long pass to Duclair was right on the money and Duke handled it perfectly. They almost pulled off another one earlier in the game.
Yet, we need to clean up the dumb penalties. I don't mind the roughings so much since we're playing teams that we need to make statements to. But the delay of game/over the glass shots have to stop. I assume the Panthers are just jacked up on adrenaline when that happens.
Finally, the power play could use some help. 10 goals so far this season and none on the power play. At least they're getting the puck into the O-zone, no super slow-mo drop passes, and look like they're playing with urgency. Get the boys in front of the net and the power play goals will come in bunches soon.
This is the year.
Go Panthers!
