Its only 1 game. Gibson was hot and Helly had an off night. Having said that I would be happy if Copp never, ever played above the 3rd line. Maurice should sit Nash and play a rotation of Vesailinen, Gustafson, Svechnikov, Harkins on the 4th line. Play Perfetti on the 2nd line and put Stastny on the 3rd line.

wheeler needs off top line and top minutes !!! He has been a great Jet for a long time. Age catches everyone. Wheeler needs a new home on line three and pp 2. Quit delaying this Pomo!!!!

Thanks for the article Jacob. It's kinda weird having a Sens writer/ fan doing articles about the Jets but I guess we'll take what we can get at this point. Keep up the writing.

It's a first game loss to the Ducks but I think there was a lot to like in that game in truth it was a few kinda lucky deflections and a bad goal that led to the loss. That's Hockey ? Loved Perfetti's debut. Ehlers looks in top form, same with Connor. I see a great season coming for both of them. Once the Jets work out the kinks and doing a better job of clearing the man in front I think we will see a much better result. They can be a dominant team in short order. Its not easy starting the season on the West coast.

I have been trolling EK for the last week, begging for a Jets article. Looks like he listened. Hopefully Jacob is here to stay!

He knows his stuff and follows the Canadian teams closely! As a Sens guy, the Jets are easy to like compared to the Habs or Leafs lol as they say.

My 3 thoughts:

1. Sportsnet ruins every jets game. Give me Dennis Beyak on the TSN coverage. Such a treat when I get the regional broadcast vs Sportsnet.

2. Helle, Svech, Dillon, and Wheeler could hand the puck to save their lives. Hopefully first game jitters.

3. I was heavily critical of PLD, but he did appear much more improved in his first game, and Perfetti is going to be a stud. Especially if he gets to watch Ehlers for a year or two.

Exciting team to watch this year, and I am sure that game was a one-off.

A couple of things as we head into the season, and after game one:

1. We all talk about the great group of Jets forwards. Really, other than Connor, Ehles and Scheifele, who do we have that scares other teams? Probably Perfetti some day soon! I really think that goal-scoring might be a problem in 21/22. Maybe I'm wrong?

2. Why oh why can't we clog up the front of the net to obscure the other team's goalie's vision? You know like other teams do to Helle. It almost seems as like our forwards are doing their best to give the visiting net-minder a view of the shot. This need to change as you don't score many goals on an NHL net-minder who can see the puck clearly, as we all know.

But like others have said, it's only one game and we shouldn't worry. But I do have concerns. The good news is we have Scheifele back next game - and the Jets are a different team with him in the line-up.

Therefore I'm looking for brighter days ahead! Positivity!

These are great points.

I watched that game and it seems that no matter who we have on our PK, it sucks. Uncle Paul is still uncle Paul.

Nice to see some Jets content, much appreciated! Agree with most Ducks game comments. I thought PLD was decent and if he can get a couple of those sneaky quick wristers to go he may start to roll. I think it looks like he’s developing something with Fly. If Wheeler gets hurt or needs a break at some point (or anyone else in the top 6 I guess), id like to see Perfetti get a top six shot. His hockey sense may already be the best on the Jets, the other elements will catch up with reps.

Nice to have some Jets content on here again, it's been awhile, thanks to the writer for putting this together.

Biggest concern I have for the Jets besides their terrible PK is their ability to score, besides 55, 27 and 81 I don't see many guys on this team that can actually put the puck in the net and Maurice's lines aren't exactly matching offensive guys together, the 3rd and 4th lines as he has them built won't likely produce much of anything on the scoresheet which again will put all the pressure on the top six and the PP to do all the scoring, also having Copp and Lowry on the PP is a sure way to limit the power plays effectiveness, it is Maurice though so I'm not surprised 9 and 17 are seeing time on the PP.

I really thought the Jets needed to add a top 6 forward in the offseason, the pre-season games and game one reaffirmed that for me.
