Frost The German JOB- 3 former 1st rd picks and getting zero contribution from none of the 3. Add in the 2nd overall and there is 4. Well done Saint Ronnie.

Frost is a surprise but might be best for him, Did think he was a sure thing after Hayes went down though. Brassard centering the second line?

What a glorious lineup 7 years out of a retool.

Organization is a model for development, and an exciting on ice product.

Will enjoy seeing those paid to do so, pump out the pathetic lie that this is anything close to a contender.

Stay the course.

Speaking of which, I watched JOB the other night playing for BU as they beat Holy Cross 5-1. Disappointed to be honest, was not really a factor in the game, and only 5-15 in faceoffs. Hopefully he will get things going as the season goes along.

Still believe that they have a chance at anything without inserting an actual star or two into this franchise that isn’t >30?

Keep picking in the middle of that first round and lauding those first round championship banners.

From what I saw in the preseason games Frost totally earned this demotion.

Maybe they wanted to get him some more game action with the Phantoms. They could easily call him back up before the season starts.

This is why you dont put all your eggs in a young player. If the Flyers went in expecting Frost to be the #3 C we would have been in trouble

The defense is healthy and looked much improved from the preseason games. The three fresh faces in Ellis, Ristolainen and Yandle came as advertised. Ellis was smart, could play in any situation well and got pucks on net. Ristolainen was physical and stuck up for his teammates. Yandle was good quartbacking the PK, good outlet passes, and surprised me at his ability to play defense (stuck up for his teammates in the games also).

Forwards are a little banged up right now. Missing Hayes and Allison hurts the Flyers depth here. Right now it doesn’t look like they have to depth to weather an injury. Tanner being out effects this also.

Good to see Hart and Jones play well thus far through the preseason. They weren’t lights out but solid. Hart especially.

Good god ya'll are pessimists. Are we fans of the franchise or just enjoy the slamming of the team for sending a player down who missed the complete season last year, A few games with them won't hurt I see more Flyers love on the penguins pages for Trumps sake.

Good point. Think if they didn’t get Bassard what kind of shape would they be in without Hayes and Frost not ready yet. Even Thompson is more valuable now to this starting line up. There will be injuries along the way. These depth signings and versatile vets will help stabilize things.

By the way, Frost is a talent and will be ready at some point this year. Just not yet.

They didn't need to make a single deal to add a center this off season to have a fall back plan if Frost didn't make the team.

I thought the Flyers were at 50 contracts already. I checked on Cap Friendly and they were at 48. Why did I have this wrong in my head? Did they get rid of a contract or not sign someone that was expect to sign? Just can’t remember.

I think Cap friendly had it wrong at one point which is why you had that in your head.

Thanks for clarifying that for me. Saw Bill’s tweet about them most likely looking to add a contract with Wilson and was like. “Hey where did those extra contracts come from?”

Had to work through most of the preseason games, Did German Rub look at least defensively reliable in the preseason games, Losing hope for him being an offensive Dynamo but the few games I saw of him earlier in his career he sure looked like he was at least positionally sound and with a good knack of the d side of the game.

You really don’t think very highly of Bassard. I don’t know MJL. He looked pretty good to me. I know it was pre-season but he looked like the guy I remember giving us fits in the bubble a few seasons ago. I guess I’m just being my usual optimistic Flyer fan.

I don't think he is going to make a difference. I think he's just a body out there that can be serviceable. He wasn't playing against an NHL lineup. At the time of the signing, I didn't like it because it gave Frost a lesser chance to make the team. I want this team putting the future first in front of the present.

Spots in the NHL are earned not inherited. Pretty sure that theory was just proven.

This is not fantasy hockey..

I saw almost all the action and The Germ was pretty quiet. He looked to be struggling on both ends of the ice when he played NHL caliber guys. I was hoping that he could be a fourth line guy at the least but his career, while not over, is needing a jump start for sure.

Can you provide any evidence where I stated it was anything different?

He seemed to forecheck ok, but agree he is a bust. Also agree Hextalls record it taking a hit here.. when you look back at his tenure it was not all that good. Love the guy, but glad he moved on.

The Flyers don't have a 2C to replace Hayes unless they're willing to move Giroux back to center.
