From the outside looking in all one can say is they are doing the tank the right way. Have piss poor goaltending. Granted as you said the GM isnt taking into consideration an other factors. Which is a mistake. Who will be the next Jack that wants out of Buffalo after they reached their breaking point.

I think Anderson can provide a stable presence in goal despite his age, he’s not gonna be up for the Vezina, but I could see him providing at least average play for this season.

Why are we discussing syphilis on a hockey blog?
Comparing the Sabres to an illness seems a bit harsh...but I can see where you're coming from.
They could easily cure their ways with an infusion of competence from the front-office, but they have preferred to ignore the issues and are on the verge of causing permanent brain damage and killing off the fan base.
