Won't be going to any games where I have to show my papers. Maybe next season. AS to how fans that do actually show up will act, I think you are going to be disappointed. The Sabres still haven't hit rock bottom. Jack Eichel fiasco is hanging over them along w an epically bad goalie tandem. Plus inept half-senile Terry Pegula still owns the team (how funny was it when Kevyn Adams said... That was really nice, Sam just called back! And Terry sat there drooling incoherently w no response). Hockey Heaven was coined on opposite day; Buffalo is clearly Hockey Hell and will be seemingly indefinitely. There is nothing major to be optimistic about with this franchise right now, try try as you may Hank |

The Sabres have the worst group of scoring forwards in the league and it’s not even close.
Can’t wait for people to get all over Dahlin because he doesn’t get a ton of pointsssssszzzz |

in all honesty I just want to see the young team play the right way. play a fast up tempo game, play aggressive defense. Basically play for your brothers on the ice.
Do this an good things will happen.
but we will most likely see them get torched every ight |

Great read.
Too many fans place all their hopes on a saviour. Sometimes it works. But, most often, the saviour becomes just another false prophet.
I think Adams and the Sabres are making solid decisions. They have gone through a full dismantle. They have given priority to the acquisition of an incredibly deep pool of picks and prospects. Moving Eichel can only add to the joy Sabre fans will know next summer at the draft.
Spirits will be reenergized as soon as more of those picks are converted into prospects with names and records. Know this with some certainty, the Sabres today are likely closer to winning a Stanley Cup than the Leafs. Sabres are on their way up. Leafs are in the midst of one more choking incident. I fear this incident will prove fatal to their competitive well-being. |

"That’s not to blame the failures of the club on the shoulders of those three players, but that core was born and raised in the cauldron of tank culture and some of that stench undoubtedly permeated the group and made losing acceptable."
i was told there's nothing wrong with tanking and that it works, except when it doesn't...because of crappy management...but, then again, this stench permeating the culture isn't tangible and therefore doesn't' exist so tanking works...
did i do that right? |

It's gonna be a hard year, a lot of learning and tough nights. Gotta see how this young group reacts to it and hopefully see growth through it all and hopefully a hockey team coming together. |

Rooting for failure is rooting against any of the young players here. You don't need to evenn root for them to be bad. They'll do it all on their own. This year is all about the development of long term players. We want 6-8 guys to have great individual seasons. If we so happen to fall into a top 3 draft pick, well great then. But just like last time, the GM needs to be competent enough to put together a real team when it matters, not just win a (frank)ing lottery.

the unmitigated gall and unabashed hubris surrounding the whole of the previous tank was obnoxious and utterly pathetic as anyone outside of buffalo will testify to |

I don't regret my support of the tank in 2014. The team was in a much different position as they are today. They were bare bones as far as future talent. It was scorched earth and Darcy and Murray wasted so many picks. At least Botterill and Adams were able to draft so far. But having a roster full of useless veterans in 2014, there was almost no reason to win. And to come away with a generational center to build around I think was the right goal for that team. Today, while it would be phenomenal to have Wright and/or Bedard, I certainly won't root for outright failure.
