So can Strome be a pace dictator?
Not at all from what we saw in that clip. There is engaged, then there is disengaged. |

It did look like Strome was lined up at wing in his ISO, but still not much engaged.
I think these one-shift ISOs can be a bit unfair - there may be things going on that we don’t know about. Certainly Borgstrom, Gaudette, Johnson looked more into the play than Strome did, but the videos don’t show much puck play for any of the four - even in terms of breaking up plays - only Gaudette with a scoring chance on his shift in the camera’s eye. |

Ergo, Gaudette wins, no? |

It was a practice and all 4 skated like it. Mostly going 1/2 or 3/4 speed.
Johnson and Gaudette looked the most into it. Strome playing beer league center and waiting for the play to come to him. Borgström with a weak-ass effort reaching for a loose puck in his own zone and got beat to it.
All 4 most likely think they have a roster spot and their effort looked like it. |

Nice write up, thanks for another good read.
I'm having trouble getting used to Flowers pads. I think his goalie pads are hideous. |

It’s not what they look like - it’s their size.
Too big.
Along with his glove, and the extra material in his sweater.
I can’t tell if it’s the goalie that makes the great save, or his equipment.
Time for some changes there. |

I love them.
I’m more excited about his pads than I am about him.
Been waiting for someone to wear more of a natural leather color for years. |

I believe Fleury’s 5 hole has always been his weakness IIRC. |

It is when a goal is scored there. It’ll be his glove hand when a goal is scored there. I remember there used to be a new weak spot each week with Crawford. |

And yet guys like Lundqvist and Price have never had a weakness, just no cups, isn’t that interesting. |

No cups - goalies must be tougher than I thought. |

And after that effort yesterday, Strome was demoted today to the bubble group. How many "we'll see if he gets the message..." will he get? My guess, his chances with the coaching staff have been exhausted, but Stan will keep him around until we see how Toews does during first few weeks of regular season.
Good tone setting from the old guy
@BenPopeCST
Gaudette and Carpenter scored on consecutive rushes against Fleury.
It didn't go over well: Fleury smashed his stick against the post then blasted a puck out of the crease. He takes practice...very seriously. |

Blues get Logan Brown and a conditional 4th (if Brown does not play 39 games) for Sanford |

Ottawa gets a now player and the Blues get a guy who looks like an NHLeer but just hasn't played like one. |

From the sneak peaks were able to get i like how the dmen are disengaging when the forwards go back to the blue line with the puck and back to protecting the house |

Unlike some, I don’t criticize in the heat of one moment, to praise them a moment later to criticizing two shifts later. Strome just doesn’t compete hard enough. He has some great tools but he’s not competitive enough to win a spot on the Blackhawk lineup. |

Oh i just figured enough people were complaining about him that you felt it was safe to do so.
