First. Lineup looks indeed reasonable, better than proj. seeing Zib playing with both Laf and Kakko.

2 big thumbs up on the "Mr. Ranger" award. Simply perfect way to honor him!

I fully expect the next Captain is going to be Trouba...

I dont know if Im on board with Trouba, or Kreider, being captains. Mainly because these guys have an expiration date. I believe we all can agree come 2024, both will be moved to create cap space for the future of this franchise.

Kreider said all the right things. Still think we find a way to jettison his and Troubas contract. Also, Kreider needs to be on the 3rd line with Lafreniere on the left and Kaako needs to go to Zibs right.

Lafreniere Zibanejad, Kaako
Panarin Chytil Kravtsov
Kreider Strome Goodrow
Bliss Barron Reeves

Likes the way Cuylle played. He’ll be out version of Tom Wilson soon! Barron played well and needs to tried up and down the lines up so they can see his potential with higher skilled forward. Let’s see him with The Breadman! Why not?

if Gallant is making the decision, that's the last thing he'd factor into the decision

because if they don't do well he'll be gone in 2024 too

this is no time to be thinking of that stuff

this team is still very young and Gallant is going to rely on both of them heavily

we have plenty of cap space for 2021-22, their contracts arent a relevant topic until after the season at earliest

Their contracts, and the future decisions concerning their contracts are a relevant topic when discussing if they should be made captain.

I also predict they are brought up on this site alone roughly 10,000 times apiece before the season ends.

I want to see Chytil take another step forward, but I don't feel like it's going to be on a line with Breadman. The connection with Strome is undeniable. Plus, Chytil is bigger than Strome, I believe. I like the idea of him between Kreids and Goodrow. Maybe Barclay's physical play with rub off on them. That could be a fearsome combination.

Glad it's unobtrusive, but if that's what they're going to look like, what's the point?

lol yea I love how people are already trying to get rid of some of our most important players this year already. Can we just enjoy this team first

I mean its Trouba too. If you don't think these players are important to the team this year then I don't know what to tell you

I'm just messing with you.

It annoys me how people poop on the contracts like the team should have known about the flat cap.

Sorry

Yea no one could have predicted a flat cap for about 5 years after they signed. People love to just be angry for no reason

Also I am fine with Trouba or Kreider for captain. I want no part of Zib as captain

Trouba is 100% overpaid, and that will haunt him a little bit but no doubt how important he is to this team. Have a really good feeling about him this year. He had COVID last year too, and took awhile to settle in, especially with no real camp or preseason.

It's like Goodrow, probably 1 million more per year than he should be. But I have no issue with it now. Everyone worries about needing cap for later years for the young players. Let's see them actually step up and prove it first before we worry about paying them. No reason to stress about it now.

I will be the first to admit, I wanted Strome gone. But it looks like he is here to stay this season so I am all on in him being our 2nd line center. Need a big year out of him

It’s amazing. He always seems like the most likely candidate to be gone and he’s always here. Lol.

I mean it’s a topic for us. But I guarantee Gallant isn’t thinking “well we may buyout or trade Kreider in 2024 so I won’t make him captain”. Not a chance

I remember at the draft all the insiders had him traded

No but do we really want to have a situation like this with a captain again?

Jagr: didn't resign him
Drury: buy-out
Cally: traded
McD: Traded

It's almost like if you're captain, you're a goner anyway
