Bellows was an excellent player in high school hockey in Minnesota. His only downside was he sometimes took bonehead penalties. It’s disappointing to see his slow development in the NHL. He needs to pick it up now or hope to get traded and find his game if he’s going to have a career. Pulling for the kid.

It’s a lot of money for Karill for sure. A small sample size but it’s a 40 goal pace over a full season. Karill is from Siberia. But still who wants to play in Minny or Winnipeg? Not everybody can play in NY or LA.

I love watching the kid play! When all said and done it could end up being an over pay but he’s worth the risk

He had an offer I guess to play in the KHL for similar money. That and Minny needing something to sell tix and get the fan base excited, I guess Guerin felt he needed to sign him but wow I still think it’s an over payment especially with the Cap freeze.
Who received that kind of money after 55 games in the league?

I agree it’s an overpay. I think Columbus overpaid for Werenski too but some markets are more desirable than others. That KHL offer was bogus. Each KHL team has a 13.6M cap and the highest salaried player in the league gets about $2M.

Well, he is THE goal scorer on that team. Good for him for getting that much coin, but, yes, good God that's a lot.

I'd agree that both are an overpay, but some organizations have to in order to keep/sign players.

On HF boards.. how the KHL could potentially pay Kaprisov $10 mill.

Reading further through the KHL legal documents, it does appear that teams can offer an unlimited bonus that doesn't count against the cap for:
- Reaching the final 4 in the KHL playoffs
- Finishing top 3 in the regular season in Goals, Points or +/-

So CSKA could offer Kaprizov a contract with the potential for $10m+ in earnings, but it's not a guarantee he would earn them. CSKA is historically one of the KHL's best teams, so a final 4 finish is very achievable (CSKA has done so in 5 of the 12 KHL playoffs, including a current 3 year streak). However the salary cap is a relatively new introduction to the KHL so will be interesting to see how that affects competitive balance over the upcoming seasons.

Kaprivoz finished with the top goals in 2018-19 and 2019-20, so that's certainly achievable. But once again not guaranteed, especially if he were to suffer any injury and miss games.

I don't think he's even an Islander fan. I think he's Tonelli's nephew.

I don't foresee much of a future with the Islanders for him at this point. Possible he rides out this year as an extra and, if Parise is only here for a year, he slots in on the 3rd line...but not holding my breath at this point. I think he could have some value down the line as a 3rd liner that has a sneaky-good shot, but I'm starting to suspect that it would be elsewhere.

I agree Chiefs. He could also be used as a piece with Draft choices and or other prospects at the trade deadline to bring in a needed piece.

Yea, although the fact that he's waiver-eligible now isn't going to work in our favor. If he goes to the AHL and we decide and/or need to call him up, there's a good chance we lose him for nothing. But if he stays with the big club and doesn't play then it's going to be two consecutive seasons where he has played almost zero games.
