It's interesting that in the case of both KK and Danault, Waite seems to be of the opinion that they're ego's are too big.

I really didn't think Danault's salary demands were that unreasonable.

Didn’t the Habs offer Danault $30M/6yrs before last season that he turned down? He gambled and won. I don’t think he gets that extra .5M without the Habs going to the SCF. Looks like he wanted out of MTL

BINGO! my friend, this is standard procedure when any player leaves the Canadiens. The regime instructs all employees and complicit media to go out of their way to say the exiting player(s) weren't the right fit, not a team guy, thought they were bigger than the logo, etc.. They then hope the portion of the fanbase who is easiest to manipulate will parrot it.

Everyone else is the problem.

Well there's a reason both players aren't in Montreal anymore.

In both cases, they happened to get more money elsewhere than what the Habs thought they were worth.

Can't speak about their egos though, I don't know these guys.

That makes one of us

But Hyman has nothing to do with slander being committed against ex-Montreal Canadiens players.

Go rest, you must have hurt your back with that reach.

As long as we agree you cannot win with a guy like Phil Kessel.

It could be done, but it's only been seen playing alongside 2 of the 5 best players in the last 15 seasons.

Hard to say exactly what the story was on Danault. I agree completely that he's worth the 5.5, even if that's the absolute limit of what I'd pay him. I wish we had kept him because he was definitely a big part of our run and if we still had him and payed somebody to take Drouin's salary we would have a good team for sure. That said, it's almost certain he wanted out, his comments last season about he wanted an offensive role sound kinda whiney and not like a team player. LA offered him PP time too which must have been important to him.

Because Habs did not had a True 1st Center since Damphouse or Turgeon, players like Koivu, Pleky and Danault were put in that chair and they all ended up thinking they were 1st Center caliber…

This is Montréal tragedy for past 30 years…

Danault no more than an average 2nd line Center or super good 3rd Center…. But because he was pivoting Habs first line, he believes he is more than what he is….

In 2-3 years, he will be a Cap anchor for LA…

For KK, he has potential to be a good 2nd Center at best and time will tell…
