If my name were DeCock, I would change it to DeCook.

I don't know the guy or the context but, merely from that comment, masks aren't intended to protect you from a virus. They're meant to protect others from the possibility that you spread it to them. If I'm recalling correctly, it's only under PERFECTLY ideal circumstances (the correct kind of mask, perfectly positioned, appropriate sealing along the sides, no touching, etc) that they give any noticeable effect on protecting the wearer for some kinds of illnesses.

Kotkaniemi plays third line minutes and scores 35 points. Success??

It is quite surprising that a player they do not want to play and can't trade away will be having season-ending surgery. Looks like it is similar to Tampa last year, but with a much less skilled player.

Cloth masks don't protect ANYONE from a virus. They are a placebo, nothing more. A placebo, by definition, is intended for fools.

So the mask doesn’t protect you and distance doesn’t protect you either. The vaccine gives you a virus variant requiring a booster. The booster gives you another variant requiring another booster. Hmmm…I don’t think I want to play.

Swap Niederreiter and Kotkaniemi and I pretty much agree.

I... have no idea.

I like the depth a lot better this year, and I think the goaltending is a much more stable duo than what we had in the past, albeit with probably a lower ceiling, but losing Hamilton hurts no matter which way you slice it. he's a game breaker. They REALLY need DeAngelo to come in, play to his capabilities, and keep his damn mouth shut.

Looks like the Canes like everyone else during an expansion are weaker. The lineup looks solid except for Stepan and Bear. Stepan looks like he’s finished. I like Bear’s skill but he makes too many mistakes to be on the 1st pair. The thinking must be that Slavin will be able to carry him until he finds his game and confidence.

Correct.

Bear is there to move the puck and have Slavin cover for what mistakes he might make. Similar to how they used Hamilton except that when it comes time to shut down the opponent, you just flip Pesce and Bear.

Stepan might get pushed out of the lineup by Jack Drury or Seth Jarvis.
