Not where he needs to be. Currently projecting as 3rd pair with pp potential. Will have to work hard defensively, but has impressive tools offensively

I’ll be curious how he looks this fall. He worked out hard both these pat years. If he’s out the time in on first stride/burst it will show for sure

So, as the past season progressed, I tended to watch what the veterans were doing; not just on the ice, but on the bench. Fils was one of those guys ) Gagner was another....) who was constantly talking to the kids. You could see him talking and knew he was teach because his hands were showing angles, pointing, etc... Was like a fighter pilot showing how the dog-fight progressed. That seemed to be the accepted role for some of the vets. Was refreshing to see.

I wish Fils well. He played his heart out for the Wings, and went off into that good night doing what he knew would best-serve his team: Mentor.

From the articles I've read he knows he has to work on his skating... and the kid seems determined to do just that. If he can do what Rasmussen did with his training in the offseason he can improve that. He still is a "project" at this point. Time will tell as he's still young... and can still have a big upside. I'm not worried about it at this point... let's see what he can do in GR in the AHL and go from there.
