I'm not trading Beau or Wahlstrom plus something else for possibly just one year of Ekholm.

Maybe if we make the centerpiece of the trade a first round pick, we don't have to give up either of those guys? Do we even have a first round pick next year?

I readily admit that I know what I'm going to say next is never, ever going to happen....


....but the only way I'd part with Beau for him is A) if we could work out an extension with Ekholm and B) there was some other deal in place to pick up Tarasenko (or another quality player)

For sure I'd want that contract extension with Ekholm before I traded either Beau or Wally. Not sure we'd have the cap room for Tarasenko at that point, nor a lot of assets to part with for him anyway.

No defense or goaltending. Mrazek is an upgrade over Campbell, but he isn't that good. I guess we'll play the games and see what happens before automatically inscribing their names into the cup. I needed a good chuckle this morning.

What I find so funny about that fanbase is for the last three years on here they’ve made fun of and attacked the idea of their team needing grit or edgy players endlessly. Attacked the islanders and their fanbase for exactly that. Dubas gets a few players like that this year and not only is it now the greatest idea ever but they’re once again cup favorites. Hysterical.
