I disagree. I think Ryan and Foegele allow you to keep Draisitl and McDavid together.

Draisitl-McDavid-Kassian
Hyman-RNH-Puljujarvi
Foegele-Ryan-Yamamoto
Shore-McLeod-Archibald

You can also spot Archibald some shifts in Kassian's spot to manage Kassian's minutes.

Personally, I prefer to split them up, they get their love together on the power play anyway. Drai does a much better job on the second line driving play than Nuge does.

Agreed. Much more dangerous team if you split them up. Have to defend 2 lines with an elite talent as opposed to one line with 2 elite players. And both of them make those they play with better.

My only concern is Kass on line 1. He’s proven he can be up there but His lack of effort over last 2 seasons hasn’t been impressive. Other lines look very intriguing tho

Nope. That was one of the big issues with this team the last few years. One line.
Drai needs to be a 2C or this team is (frank)ed again. They still likely will be with the horrid D and Goalies.

Loading up the first line and then seeing lines 2 and 3 caved in was the problem. Adding Hyman and Foegele gives you two competent top 6/9 wingers, while Ryan is a viable 3C. So now you can load up the top line and lines 2 and 3 can finally hold their own. I do think Tippett starts with McDavid and Draistil apart, and RNH at wing, with Ryan as 3C. But I also fully expect him to experiment with what I suggested. McDrai together. RNH as 2C, Ryan as 3C. Instead of guys like Neal, Archibald, Kahun, Shore as middle forwards now they have Hyman, Foegele, Ryan. Massive upgrade.

Kassian scored 5 goals since Tkachuk messed with his brains. Sure put him with McDavid or better yet just make Conner play with only 1 skate.

You keep saying this as if Kassian returning to his usual level of scoring (11 points in 42 games) after signing his new contract is a surprise.

Since when was Kassian a goal scorer? Played on a line with McDavid to ensure violent unnecessary hits were directed his way instead of McDavid's way. Seems to have worked aside from Mark Kneeordano's attempts.

Seeing how calgary is filling their lineup with slow truculent guys again, Edmonton won't have to worry about much of that again. McDavid will be past their defense before anyone from the flames realizes he's on the ice. Will the turtle run opponents into Marky this year back-checking?

Does he know what back-checking is?

How about really spreading out the depth and using all 3 top players in their natural center position.....

Hyman-McD-Kass
Foegele-Draisaitl-Puljujarvi
Shore-Nuge-Yamamoto
(FA signing)-Ryan-Archibald

McLeod 13th forward in games they go with this setup. He would switch in and out of lineup with Shore and the FA LW that I expect them to sign before season or via a PTO.

But as someone else stated, all of these options are likely to be used at times in the season. But Tip doesnt try spreading all 3 out as centers due to lack of quality wingers the past 2 seasons. Hope the additions of Hyman/McLovin and growth from Pul Party and Yamo allow him to try it more.

Tippet is a moron. So of course at the first sign of losing he will go back to McDrai line as he always has. And Hyman and Foegle are ok but they aren’t driving lines by themselves.

Please no. I don’t want to see them together except on the power play and the last minute of the game. We could have the 2 strongest lines in the NHL or one slightly stronger line and a mediocre 2nd line. RNH is not a centre

Shore is best as a 13th forward. If he is on the 3rd line you are doomed. Nuge is a terrible centre but a descent complimentary winger. I think McLeod is easily top 12 and will likely pass Ryan during the year to be in the top 9.
