Geez. Did it actually happen?

That's what went down. Is the Video guy a dirtball?, absolutely, but still....

Allegedly, the video guy talks the player into it, is chin deep on *insert player here* while he beats his own meat and then busts all over said player

Apparently the Hawks have agreed NOT to trade him mid-season or at the deadline

Which sucks, because if Fleury plays great, Hawks will be in playoff contention and won't want to trade him anyways, OR, if he plays terrible and the Hawks are outside the playoff picture then we probably wouldn't want to trade for him, or sign him in FA next offseason

Same goes with Jarry, if we have a glaring need at goal, that likely means Jarry is playing mediocre/poorly and wouldn't have any trade value without a sweetener as a cap dump

Best hope was a Jarry/??? for Fleury with *some* retention by the Hawks right now when Fleury was being noncommittal

Yup. It looks like Jarry/DeSmith are here to stay. All the decent goalies are signed and/or have been traded at this point.

Without knowing what trades Hextall did indeed attempt, it's hard to tell whether he was too patient or couldn't find the right trade for the Pens.

IMO it's getting less likely to find a trade partner for Pettersson. Most teams have shored up their needs at LD.

I’m not of the belief that “Jarry lost them the 1st round”. To believe that you have to strictly put all your faith in fancy stats. I also think any coach with some balls would have pulled Jarry.

The Kings are looking for a young LD to play with Doughty. With Pettersson coming from Anaheim they'd likely be familiar with him.

It seems the previously available goaltenders agree with you.

Jarry was the biggest reason we lost, but are star players didnt show up and just got pounded into submission. The whole team played small, all are shots were from the perimeter and we couldnt clear the net. Same team this off season maybe even a little smaller and slower, same fate we will encounter in the playoffs...oh well, at least hexy values picks...

LA is running out of cap space fast and have Edler, Maatta, and Bjornfoot on D. So unless they'd be willing to buy out Maatta, there isn't a lot of financial space for Pettersso, or maybe the Pens could trade Pettersson for Maatta and a decent pick as incentive to take Maatta then buy him out.

I'm not savvy on that. Does that mean he goes to an arbitrator and proves his worth? If the arbitrator agrees, the pens have to pay him?

Yes and no. The arbitrator will rule what his salary should be and it could be lower, similar or more than what the Pens want to pay him. If it's more, the Pens can either match or let him walk for nothing and he becomes a UFA.

Penguins can only walk away if the awarded amount is above 4.5 Million. Anything less than that and the Penguins are stuck with him. Since ZAR chose arbitration, Penguins get to choose the term, either 1 or 2 years

What is the Pittsburgh obsession with Fleury? He was run outta town by the team in the previous expansion draft, the Pens gave a draft pick to Vegas under the agreement they'd take Fleury, the team doesn't have the cap room to get him back without making sacrifices, I get he is a good guy and a fan favorite, but considering he was literally traded for a bag of pucks, it's pretty clear the Pens franchise isn't interested in bringing him back

Last year only awards of >=$4.5M could be denied by the team.
Dunno whether this is still the case, guess it was a one time limit.

Holy poop. That'd put the Pens in a bit of a bind wouldn't it?

Im probably not down on Jarry as everyone else... but you are taking a pretty big risk going into next season with him... not only that, but it seems like the opportunity to upgrade at goalie at a relatively neutral cap impact was there. That is why im a bit annoyed.

If only CBJ's GM wasn't stupid enough to take Voracek off the Flyers' hands. He is the antithesis of what Flyers fans like in their players - a lazy, washed up coward (a coward for beating up Scuderi years back). I wanted so much for them to eat that contract (just like I wanted them to eat the Bryz contract). Why is it that the Flyers are always able to weasel out of their contracts?

I think if we make it to the deadline with a decent team but we see Jarry isn't what we're looking for, then we make a trade. Idk, I still think this is a decent team.
