While the Rangers could have probably received a bigger haul for Buch, I'm still waiting to judge this deal based on what else the Rangers have planned. If ultimately they don't add someone like Eichel and instead get someone like Tarasenko, then yeah, awful.

While I think Jones is better than his analytics show, he's certainly not NEAR the contract he just received.

I was wondering how RW would do a draft winners and losers since he doesn't follow prospects. Focusing on trades and ignoring the actual draft was probably a good call.

If there was a team that should trade up, it's LA. Absolutely loaded system. Them taking a kid that fell is likely a good sign for him.

People are giving Hex crap for not having a great off-season, but relative to what's been going on, I think the GM's who don't jump into this mayhem are being smart.

The Rangers couldn’t afford him, not with the raises the others are going to receive. Also they realize you can’t only win with skill, you need grit as well. With their 2 moves they have 2/3rd of a legit 3rd line grind them take no liberties on the top 6 group.

The Rangers CAN afford him. He'll probably get around $6M, but I think they have their sites set on bigger players like Eichel.

He really hasn't done a lot yet to judge good or bad. I didn't like the McCann move and so far he hasn't cleared up enough cap room to make changes, but there is still time.

But agree at least he hasn't added a bad contract yet.

I was not happy with the whole handling of McCann, but we also don't know the ins and outs of dealing with the expansion situation. Who knows what the returns were looking like for teams who needed to unload players without losing them for nothing. Teams had little leverage, so IMO we really don't know much better he could have handled it.

Again, I'm not happy about it, I think it hurts the Pens, but I'm not ready to say Hextall is having a bad off-season and I'm glad to see him stay out of these shenanigans. Who the eff knows what whackadoo trade JR would have done at this point.
