Played in 40 games last year. He showed flashes of a good depth player. Was starting to use his size well and his skating greatly improved.

This is good depth signing for Detroit. I've been watching Ras the last couple years in GR... and he is noticeably better in almost every aspect of his game. His positioning, skating and general hockey IQ as he reads the play are much improved. He is an bonafide NHLer now.
