Danault could not score in a red light district with a fist full of hundreds |
|
|
|
Jeff Carter Is 36 years old which makes him very expendable. |
|
|
|
I'm hoping that Danault ends up with my Minnesota Wild. |

I could see Danault getting picked by Seattle since they already have Driedger almost ready to sign.
Centers are hard to get in the expansion draft and for that reason I could see them choosing Kerfoot ahead of McCann. Maybe. |

Still don't see why RW can't grasp that it wasn't losing "McCann for nothing" when
Sid, Geno are obvious picks
He has started that He'd protect Carter
Rust, Jake, Kap - yes
So, this is the organization choosing Blueger (an ACTUAL Center), who they have locked up for 2 years over McCann (Who they TRIED at Center then REPLACED) who they have locked up for 1 year and is due a big raise, especially when compared to what Blueger is already signed for
And it frees up at least a little more money this year, and a lot more if they take Zucker or Petts free and clear |

If they can figure out the money, I’m very into this idea. |
|

For whatever it's worth, Jesse Marshall seems to really love Filip Hallander. Says he is the top prospect in the system and much closer to NHL ready than Poulin or Legare. |
|
|
|
I'm only skeptical of Danault because of his offense. He just doesn't finish enough or create enough offense on his own to be worth the premium price tag.
Averaging 11 goals per season might not cut it for a team that will desperately need secondary scoring. That's about the same output as Blueger. He's a better player than Blueger but I'd be hesitant to give him money and term. |

If we are spending money on a forward I think we should bring in a guy who is a consistent proven goal scorer. Brandon Saad would probably cost less than Danault and still scores at a top line rate at 5v5. |

Is Janmark from Vegas any good? I was browsing through the UFA's. Hes like 28 and coming off a sub $3mm deal. Had liek 15g last year. I dont have hte time to follow much of the league these days.
I think hte Pens will need offensive support this year. |
|
|
|
Danault publicly stated that the reason he didn’t sign an extension in Montreal last summer was because he was afraid of becoming #3 behind KK and Suzuki, so signing to play behind Sid and Geno doesn’t make much sense. |

He is pretty pedestrian when it comes to 5v5 production. He will top out at like 20 points at 5v5 in an 82 game season. Not worth 3 mill IMO |

@Dupuis: The JFresh model is high on him becoming an NHLer, which is good. If he can come in and be a third liner on an ELC, that takes some of the sting of losing McCann away. But obviously that’s a big ask for someone on their first year on NA ice. Marshall does make the observation that his play style shouldn’t be that affected by a change in ice, but I think expectations should be seriously tempered. |

I keep reading that Seattle may choose Tarasenko then flip him while retaining some salary. I'm not saying Tarasekno's destiny is tied to Zucker, but I do think any available top-six winger that doesn't wind up in a Kraken sweater increases the chances of Zucker being selected. |

I was reading somewhere they may take Price and trade him back to Habs with salary retained as well....they have a lot of room and options to be creative.

Yeah, it was already made known the NHL wouldn't allow MTL to do that. It's considered circumvention.

Yeah, if they allowed that think of all the teams who'd give up prime picks and prospects to cut salary, i.e. McDavid, Tavares, Crosby, etc...

Not really. The cap hit is being accounted for as it's eaten on Seattles roster. Seattle is getting something in exchance for eating the cap hit, Montreal is giving something up for Seattle taking on the cap hit
Circumvention is the attempt to eliminate a cap hit that would otherwise be charged (Think Pre-Recapture, Guy signs 12 year 80 million contract, collects 70 million in 7 years then retires and the cap hit simply disappears. He made 10 million per but only ever accounted for 6.66 on the books) Don't get me started on LTIR
Explain to me how Price is circumvention, But David Savard being traded to Tampa through Detroit, with Detroit eating some cap ISN'T circumvention, when he never played even 1 game on Detroits roster. Detroit ate cap for compensation.
Or Orpik being traded to Colorado with compensation, being bought out, then returning to Washington on a 1 year 1 million dollar deal. Nothing changes for Washington except Orpik is now 4 million dollars cheaper and Colorado got something for eating the cap charge
It happens all the time. The NHL just makes Sh1t up as they go |

My only explanation is that he would be going back to Montreal again...thats not the case in your example.
...Or is the league getting their own CBA wrong? Or is Rino wrong in that what he read about it isnt officially from the league/true? |
