Bill, can you see Jake being a fit in Edmonton. With all of the snipers they have I could see him being a good fit. I know the cap is a deterrent. Just wishful thinking on my part.

Hopefully the CF wakes up on the wrong side of the bed and the evil Chuck evolves and he makes some shrewd smart moves actually set up the flyers for good upcoming season and beyond.
If the flyers do move their first they better get a high quality player out of it who is young.
Sure another piece will have to be added but hopefully it’s not an overpayment.

Really hope Fletcher has something up his sleeve and ready to go with. Cant be relying on Kraken giving Flyers CAP relief by taking JVR or JK without some sweeteners. Could see a possible JVR buyout if not chosen which I dont expect he will be. I would be fine giving them a 2nd to take JVR we have to get some CAP help

My offer was,

Jake + NAK + 2022 1st(lottery protected) for Krak to select them.

I do not see JVR being bought out….I realize most are against sweeteners to help facilitate a reduction in our cap number, but I think it could be the route they go. I’m fine with it with in reason. Fletch has had enough time to get a good feel for what he has….it’s time he gets off his AZZ and starts to address this teams holes…..I’m not sure this is what Dave Scott had in mind when he said he wanted action.

I would do it in a heartbeat..just give them this years 1st instead of 2022...this is not a strong draft

Then what’s the limit ? I didn’t think it’s outrageous if you use the $ to get better. It beats having that contract drag us down for another 3 years.

I would def add a 2nd to get rid of JVRs salary....dont worry there will be plenty of action on next 2 weeks. Maybe Fletch learned his lesson from last yr when he jumped the gun to sign GUS for 3M...Patience I think is the way to go this year.

I would keep this years….13 is pretty high up. With any luck next years pick would be in the low 20’s.

I'm not a fan of the contract but I would not give up much for the Kraken to select Jake - mid-round pick if that. He is still about a .67 ppg player and has consistently been over is career. His contract is not Lucic-ish or Neal-ish by any stretch

Thats 100% correct...just for example lets say they us the $$ to sign Hamilton...then its Jake..Nak and a 1st for Hamilton. Who wouldnt do that trade...??? Disagree in a big way with Bill on this one

I’m fine with that….but what are we using the 7 mil for ? I’m fine with seeing some of these guys out….but they need to replace them. It shouldn’t only be about what leaves but what’s coming in.

Jake is exactly whats wrong with the Flyers...plays when he wants to..no interest in defense...averaged 17 goals over last 7 yrs and accumulates tons of secondary PP assists. Add his lackadasical demeanor and play on the ice. Flyers have to change the core and he is the best one to remove

I agree. I don’t think the moves Fletch “needs” to make will look pretty at all. But they are up against it, unless you want to just bring back the band next year.

I can see that but would be fine with either...not a deep draft this year and with the MET going to be together again and be tough who knows if Flyers even make playoffs next year. Pens..Caps..Isles..Rangers..Devils...not going to be a weak team in the group

If Ghost goes in the ED or trade, use the Cap savings toward signing Larson. Then sign Suter hopefully on a bargain deal. That leaves 3D on each side. Provorov Sanheim Suter, Larsson Braun Myers. I think they could workout an effective D with that 6 with York in waiting.

This is why Fletch needs to be aggressive….Pens and caps are going to be good. The other 3 continue to make moves and are only getting better. Unless you buy into the whole one off year excuse, or it was a bad reaction to Covid….the Flyers need to take a hard look at this team, and from what Fletch said the other day, they have. The big question…Can the Flyers win with Jake, JVR and G making up almost 30% of their cap?

The odds of Hamilton sigining with the Flyers aren't very high in the first place. And they probably go DOWN not up if they trade Voracek without any sort of replacement plan. Who are you going to sign to replace his points at a significantly cheaper cost? All that it does is tears open another hole in the roster and costs you a first-round pick. Cap space isn't the goal. It's a means to an end. Tell me your viable plan for using that cap space to solve as many of the team's needs as possible.

Suter isnt signing a bargain deal to play here.May give Tampa or Vegas or Isles a bargain, teams that are contenders , but not Philly . Flyers would have to overpay to get him he will have lots of options
