Ben Shelley: Sharks are reportedly shopping Kevin Labanc and others

Gonna be another LoNNNNNNNNNNnnnnngggggggggg season for Sharks fans!

Lebanc was an improvement over Danny O'Regan, whose spot he took when Danny was shipped to Buffalo. In 2018, there was 1st half Lebanc and 2nd Half Lebanc. 1st half Lebanc was challenged by the coaching staff in Jan 2018, enroute to their deep run that was derailed in St Louis, to show that he belonged in the NHL. He was terrible defensively and wasn't producing a whole lot. He took the challenge and 2nd Half Lebanc emerged to show that he could be a pretty decent player after all. However, in 2019-2020 and last year, all we saw was 1st Half LeBanc, one who took a lot of lazy penalties and wasn't scoring enough either. He hadn't earned his raise from the $1mm contract to the $4.4mm today. I don't know what the return would be and from whom...
I agree with you that Gambrell has been a big disappointment. Perhaps my expectations of his becoming a #2C were unrealistic but he isn't even as good as Goodrow or Kellman. Not much of a loss there.
I like Simek more than you do. I suspect that he's not 100% physically but he was able to keep Burns in his place during the 2018-19 run. He is more rugged ala Murray and the question you have to ask is: Who takes his roster spot? Paschinuk is the LD closest to being NHL ready on a regular basis on the current roster.

None of these players will garner anything significant, Rebuild time and lose Doug NO PLAN Wilson.

Can we lose something like Karlson in the expansion draft..please someone get a magic wand and make this happen.

Some guys on the Devils thread are drooling over Labanc.

Why?

LeBanc is from the East Coast...They may think that he is a replacement for Miles Wood, whose contract is up after next season and has been described as "polarizing"

Wilson will be trading garbage for garbage. Nothing here makes this team any better. Time for Wilson to grow a pair & shake things up or replace him. Even Pierre McGuire got a new job

Simek strikes me as the kind of player we need to be keeping during a rebuild, serviceable and with upside. The others won't get much in return, might be worth holding Lebanc for another year and see if he rebounds.
