I'm over Steel... I loved him in Regina and really liked the pick but outside of the hattie in Vancouver he's done nothing for me. Could that be usage ?? uhhh with the Swarm in charge.. probably, but still ... I'd easily protect Jones, Isac for sure who I think is really starting to come into his own. Terry is no brainer.

Gotta protect Haydon no if ands or buts about it. That was a stellar trade by Murray and how many times can you say that. That to me is going to be our top pair next yr. Drysdale / Haydon.

That said I'd love to see Manson and Raks both traded soon - Along with Silf and Larsson on the backend.

I have not given up on Steel yet. I don’t expect him to be a solid contributor but I do see him as a valuable piece moving forward to round out the middle six.

I would also hate to see the ducks give away either Fleury or Mahura.

I would love to see BM make a pair of moves prior to the expansion draft. Some trade chips I would be interested in selling off would be Manson, Silfverberg, Rakell, Henrique, Milano, Heinen.

If we are truely committed to a rebuild I would be willing to see Gibson go as well for some solid prospects. Maybe Philly is interested and willing to involve the likes of Patrick, Frost, Sanheim?

I’m not advocating for it and I’m not going to do it unless the return is an offensive stud…
But I’m also a realist and I think JG could bring quite a bit back to speed up the rebuild.

If I were BM I would take this in a heart beat! Huge step in the right direction of development.

Ducks will protect Fleury. They're not going to let him go for nothing. Ron Francis drafted him, and now that he's with Seattle, I could see Fleury taken if left unprotected. Disagree with keeping Steel over Jones. Jones is the big body player that plays in front of the net. Ducks desperately need that front net presence. Baring a deal with Seattle, I don't think Steel would be chosen over Mahura or Larsson.

I kind of think that Shattenkirk is going to be the pick by Seattle. They will need to meet the minimum in salary and even if they make deals, the likelihood that they take on that much dead weight I think is low.

They will need experienced D at a reasonable price and I think he would be a good name for them to add.

Fleury will likely be taken, but I think Shattenkirk will be the choice if Fleury is protected...

Ben, I am baffled as to why Rakell is on your protected list? He's a declining asset, nobody wanted him last trade deadline which tells you his value is meh, so if Seattle selects him, oh well. I'm really betting they don't though.

8/1 HAS to be the way Barstool Bob goes. They have a lot more talent on the defensive side than the offensive. They have to protect Fleury, this is the only trade BB has won since Kesler. They can't lose him for nothing!

Nobody traded for Rakell because the team would have to use up a spot to protect him. At the trade deadline, there was only one deal involving players with term. Every other trade involved players with expiring contracts.

So you're saying Murray lost the Kase trade? Interesting since, so far, Kase has played a total of 6 games with Boston.

I love the pick of Perreault but I miss Thicc Nick.. so far that trade is a wash for me.

True, forgot about the 1st Boston gave up. I just remembered Kase for Backes with Axel thrown in. That trade did work out well.
As for Rakell, thanks for making my point. No other team wanted to protect a guy making $3.8 million who only scored 9 goals and whose goal total has regressed the past 3 years. Barstool Bob shouldn't, either.

It's not that nobody wanted to protect Rakell, it's that no team had an opening to protect him. Come on.
