I wouldn’t even take Rinne over Desmith at this point in his career. This would be the equivalent of change for change’s sake.

No thanks.

I don't believe this is accurate. I think Hextall knew who he wanted to protect for a while. I do think it would be wise of us to try to make some trades and get something back for a player than just lose them in the expansion draft. I believe a lot of GMs are thinking the same thing.

I would classify McCann, Zucker, Pettersson in this category of players to shop (if McCann is going to be exposed in the draft).

Definitely. I'm not sure how many teams are looking to add right before expansion, but if there are any, we should be seeing if any want Zucker or Pettersson.

This blog might as well have just been a one word blog: "No." That would be tantamount the effort that went into this one.

I guess this means he will likely be a Penguin.

Is Braden Holtby going to figure in this series? He will be the goalie left unprotected by Vancouver, and I imagine Pittsburgh could swing a deal by sending one of their goalies +(?) before the expansion draft that Vancouver would then leave unprotected.

The same year that Andersen, Bishop, and Rinne have all been discussed as the Penguins next starting goalie.

And I think the conclusion on Andersen and Bishop were also a pass.

This whole series is dumb. The Pens are going to start the year with Jarry/ DeSmith. What the Pens will likely do is lose a D man or two, and probably trade a forward or two. Instead let’s discuss goalie situations that are never going to happen. Jarry isn’t the only reason they lost, although he wasn’t the reason they won any games either. If the actual idea is to make another legit run the entire team needs tweaked and a new coach who isn’t relying on 2016 tactics with a 2022 roster.

Grinder47, did you even watch the series vs the Islanders?
Im not saying the roster is perfectly constructed. But it doesnt take a degree in thermonuclear physics to see that goaltending--specifically Jarry's play-- cost the Penguins the series. This doesnt mean the Pens would be playing in the SCF right now--They might not have gotten past Boston-- but the roster doesnt need an overhaul. None of us would turn down improvements anywhere on the roster.
But it starts and ends with goaltending.
For the most part, since Crosby first took a team to the playoffs, the team has lost when its goaltender underperformed in a post season series. A couple years (07, 15, 19, 20) the team was NOT as talented as the team that knocked them out, but normally they lose when the goaltending falls apart

There's consensus among the beat, the legit and clowns alike, that the FO is looking at the goalie position. It very well could end up that there's nothing to be done and we have to go into next season with Jarry/DeSmith, but saying it's absolutely not going to happen is also stupid because we know the FO is actively shopping.

Am I alone in thinking this has been one of the more boring SC's in a long time?

I think the Tampa/NYI has been the most exciting series this year.

This is pretty funny, but Wilson has played 82 playoff games and McD has played 21.

Look at that. Two glove-side goals against Price in a row.
