Why would Hamilton make any reference to Krug and Faulk's $6.5M contracts? I just finished top 10 in scoring again. I'm solid in my own end. I play in all situations. I didn't get nominated for a Norris this year but likely came very close. I'm 27 years old. So let's talk about the following comparables:

Victor Hedman - $7.9M
John Carlson - $8M
Alex Pietrangelo - $8.8M
Roman Josi - $9M

That's the tier he'll be referencing. Now round down due to a flat cap. But Krug and Faulk are the last people he'll point to.

Bud, didn’t i also say he’d want more than them? The point was that if Krug can get 6.5 in a flat market, there’s no reason to think Hamilton couldn’t get more. So I’m pointing at north of 7. I wish you’d be a little less condescending sometimes.

Haha Hamilton signed 7+ I easily trade him for any of the aforementioned players in your list. Also all situations is BS he’s not even top 4 PK minutes for Canes dmen but he’s “solid in his own end” he plays with Slavin who covers a lot of his weaknesses and allows for him to be an offensive dman first. Don’t get me wrong I love what Dougie brings to the table he’s just about fixed one of the leagues worst PPs by himself. But comparing him to those guys even with his point production is a joke. I’ll admit Krug and Faulk are bad comparisons. But they’re also good examples of bad contracts. I think he’ll get 7mil. That said Slavin only makes 5.3 so it’ll probably be a very interesting negotiation.

They should probably be taking a look at Gibson out in Anaheim,

Neidirieder, Geekie for Gibson, Terrry might do it

And as for the Wings and the Ducks: Neilsen for Henrique (retain $1M) and a 2nd

BINGO!

6 years, $7.5 per.

gotta remember Slavin was a 23 year old RFA when he signed his current deal in 2017.

Dougie is a totally different animal.

Bernier if you guys don't sign him.

That or Raanta or someone like that to platoon with Nedeljkovic.

Good to see Bernier in demand, the Leafs fans rode him without any mercy. And it was really the defense and the system.

If you take on Jordan Staal, he'll finally get to have played with all 3 of his brothers at the NHL level (assuming Marc stays in the fold).

I’d like to get ahold of Beane or Hakanpaa, but there’s NO way The Canes let either go, yet. They need a G, full stop. Bernie, Scetch (use the “brothers playing together angle…), for Pesce & a 2d, they retain $1m.
Hamilton’s good, but I watch the Canes because they’re close to SC, so I see sports broadcasts, etc… He cheats a lot so he can break-out, but defensively….I’d think he’s more like Green was: good player, decent out-lets, good shot, but not much D. And his cap hit ain’t worth it. If TOR can dump Marner/Hyman +, they might take a run at Dougie, but they’ll not gain a strong D-man if they do.

Bernie is a FA so that doesn't work.

While I thought he was quite overrated in Calgary I think that Hamilton is probably looking for Erik karlsson money and realistically if he makes it to free agency someone is going to give it to him.

I can't see Staal waiving his NMC to come to Detroit. Hamilton will be way too expensive and he's a RD. I said it before, Oleksiak should be the focus if the Wings are looking at a UFA dman.

Gardiner would make the Wings worst defensively so i would ask for a 1st and a good prospect.

Oleksiak would be a pretty good get. And he’s young enough to grow and be around for a while!
