Bill a couple questions.

1. Do you see the Flyers getting seriously involved in any Eichel trade? If so what type of package would you give up?

2. Do they really need a true top pairing Dman to go with Ivan? Or can they or would they be better off just finding the right partner. Even if he isn't a true top pair guy.

Don't see Hamilton coming here; unless offered max money.

if I'm an upper echelon defenseman picking his long term home, I want a team with solid management/coaching/ownership, and a roster with a bright future both short and long term

along with an opportunity to play with some great defensemen as my partners

I think Philly checks those boxes

I don’t see Jones or Hamilton coming here. A physical defensive defenseman who can play first pair minutes with Provorov might still serve their needs without giving up massive money or assets.

An aging core, well into their 30’s, does not coincide with a bright future, long or short term, also, corporate ownership is only concerned with dollars and revenue, I wouldn’t exactly call that solid, despite them being wealthy.

Management, Fletcher in particular, has never proven to be a winning GM in the league...I would say mediocre at best.

But I think AV’s a really good coach

How many other teams check that same box and are in better shape than Flyers?

Both Jones and Hamilton appear to be expensive tough gets. Fletcher needs to focus on more obtainable targets. He was successful with the Niskanen trade, who out their is potentialy available in that capacity? Ekholm fir example.

Not Bill, but Ill chime in.

1. Im not sure if they will be able to without sending some serious talent/cap hit back the other way. I can see that thinning us out talentwise. But I would explore it anyway. Im also iffy about his injury history and ability to stay healthy long term.

2. I don't think anyone here would have called Niskanen a true top pairing dman, but he was most definitely the right partner for Provy. Im hoping they just don't try to throw money at the most expensive guy. I would rather they spend the most time on finding the "right fit" for what we are trying to accomplish.

We can debate all day about who/what that actually is.

How do we have an aging Core? Giroux, JVR, Braun and Voracek are not our Core anymore.

Couturier Laughton and Hayes are in their prime

Then you have guys like Konecny, Farabee, Provorov, Myers, Sanheim, NAK, Frost, Lindblom, Allison, NoPa, Hart plus many other young prospects that are 25 and under.

Core Players for the Flyers are:

Couturier
Farabee
Hayes
Provorov
Hart

These are the guys the Flyers build around. I dont know if the Flyers have a 6th core piece. Maybe Sanheim but I think he has ways to go to prove he is a core piece.

it eats the Avalanche core 5 of Mackinnon, Rantanen, Landeskog, Makar, Girard alive.

And don't let anyone tell you different.

Yet Core of

Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares ,Reilly, Campbell is 1 game away from being eliminated by MTL

Would you rather have a core of:

Eichel, Olloffsson, Reinhart, Skinner, Dahlin

You could argue that core might be better yet they havent made the playoffs since 2011

skinner isnt part of that core.

Eichel Dahlin Reinhart Cozens Risto imo. I take that over the Flyers. The Leafs if they lose will need to 100% shake up that core.

Jarry was awful.

Crosby in his last 14 playoff games 3g 3a. That is anemic production from him.
He's still averaged 1.2 ppg over the last 3 seasons which is great.
