take JT Compher, a 2022 2nd, and a 2023 3rd. don’t care if this is a bit of an overpayment.
DO NOT touch graves, or any of donskoi/kadri/burakovsky/francouz/nichushkin.
it’s unclear which of the aforementioned guys will be exposed, but we cannot protect them all— our undisputed untouchables/guaranteed protected =
mackinnon, rantanen, landeskog (anyone thinking he won’t be resigned BEFORE the expansion draft, or that there’s even a .0000000001% chance he won’t be an avalanche til he retires is completely delusional), makar, toews, girard, grubauer.
erik johnson has a NMC, but a lot of people around the avs are thinking his career may be over, or that he will be asked to waive, or we buy him out — way too injury prone throughout his career and he’s old. still, i guess there’s a chance he is auto-protected due to the clause if none of the above happens. hell, if he isn’t protected and is able to still play, by all means have at him instead of JTC.
sakic will likely protect jost, too, given how much he’s matured and refined his game the past few seasons. we’ll see who joe uses from the list above to finalize the protected set. |

Philly trades our 1st and Nicolas Aube-Kubel for Seattle to take JVR.

From the Hawks, Vegas takes either deHaan or Strome in the expansion draft. Then the Hawks trade the Vegas 2nd round pick that the Hawks hold and the other of deHaan or Strome to the Kraken. In exchange the Kraken make one expansion draft selection from another team that the Hawks decide and that player is then sent to the Hawks to complete the trade.

The pens are one of the teams that don’t need to pitch anything. Offensively they could lose a zucker carter bleuger tanev or zar. Not sure carter doesn’t retire if picked. Tanev is good but contact could be problematic. Bleuger ceiling is a good third line center.
You want Peterson or matheson?
Jarry?
No trades from the burgh. Sorry. |

Using vegas draft that is not an overpayment... if anything it’s under. 2021 1st especially if you get to conference finals or further is about the cost. Using precedent

Considering the potential for a Habs rebuild I am trying to figure f there is a way to get Seattle to take on both Price and Weber.
Without giving up to many 1st round picks it is likely the Habs would need to surrender a 1st and at least 3 of Caufield, Suzuki, Primeau and Guhle. This would likely be unacceptable for many fans in Montreal who overvalue a few of these assets. As much the Habs need to rid themselves of Price and Weber's contracts, I don't think a package is possible.

Yea........Rebuild may be coming but how good would Couturier look in a Habs jersey.......Sure seems like he would fit the bill for what that team needs to upgrade what its got. |

I'd give a 1st for the Kraken to take Weber. But he needs to agree if he has a NMC |

You ok with paying Landeskog $8.8M per on a 7 or 8 year deal? |

he’s 28, and currently making $5.5mil. don’t think he’ll demand as much as you’re suggesting. i’d throw him a 6-year deal at $7.5 - $7.75mil per. then see where he’s at when that expires and he’s 34. but in Joe we trust, crazy to me he hasn’t gotten GM of the year yet; he works absolute magic. so if joe goes longer than 6 years, the cap hit should be a bit less.
regardless of my personal speculation, Landy is our captain, and a staple of the top line (or one of) in the league; confident we’ll work out something to make both sides happy. |

Are you serious? Give up 1st and top prospects for them to take Weber and Price? Some teams would love to have Price. Weber, not so much but hopefully he retires soon and Nashville is hit with the cap hit. Seattle should be trading for Price to make him their face of the team since he played in that area and his wife is from there. |

Really? The Kraken want a 33 year old goalie who has never won a cup that they have to pay $10.5 mil for 5 more years. NOT! Canadiens would need to pay big time to get the Kraken to take either Price or Weber.
Teams may take a first for Price or Weber if Montreal retains half salary for the length of the contract. |

Take Neal and Oil throw in Samorukov - TurdFergeson
You mean a 1st and Sammy? Neal is a buyout candidate at best, so even just a 1st and prospect to take that mess is an underpayment.

Some teams would definitely love to have him... after the habs hold at least three mil in the trade to get him. |

That’s why it’s not worth giving up more. If Seattle doesn’t take Neal just buy him out and let them take a nobody. |

Ottawa says hello and says take who you want. We learned our lesson losing Methot to Vegas - sometimes you gotta lose a guy, accept it and move on.
Taking on Bob's contract will cost Florida a first and a player.
And are people not watching Price in last/this year's playoffs? He is the only reason they are in on any playoff series. Insane people want to give him away. Yes, that contract will hurt in 3 yrs but all 8+ year deals hurt in the last 3 years. |
