I’m interested in Damien Girox Center, lefty. I’m keeping the theme young.
This kid has potential, of course what would it cost?

Nice! I guess if MN wants to “reload” they may want a player and a pick. Fabbri? Not sure what it would take. Love the take. Nice job

When you look at the Wings UFA/RFA/Expansion Draft this summer this team will have a new look again. Stevie is in a pretty nice position this Summer. I’m still chasing some youth right now.

For sure. The defense will start to stabilize in a year or two, but letting contracts expire and moving in youth is still really important. I love how he’s letting it turn over quickly. Pull the bandaid off

i’m loving these elimination posts, jeremy. look forward to them each night a team drops out (they’re obviously catered towards the wings, but the info is universally useful).

i think steve will take a good hard look at the flyers once the playoffs are over. they underperformed so horrendously a lot of people in philly (fans and media alike) are shouting “BURN IT DOWN”. while i don’t believe fletcher will do that, there will be some tough decisions ahead for the flyguys. i’d be surprised if shane ghost (using his nickname bc i can’t ever spell his damn name correctly, lol) is in a flyers uniform next season. he’s not the only one on the way out.

as for minny and the guys you listed, i’m not so sure any of them would be a super good fit for the wings but to be perfectly frank, you would know better.

anyhow keep up the great work and i’ll keep reading.

Fiala. Wouldn’t mind taking a D off their hands but they had to go give all of them awful contracts.

Negotiations between left wing Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Oilers break down...and then there is this.....
I don't advocate getting RNH, as we have time to allow our center prospects to mature. But, he is a capable center, but his stats are inflated to.73 pts per game because he shares the ice part time with the 2 greatest centers in the business.

They need to trade Dumba, but I hope Stevie does not bite on that one.
A Parise or Sutter trade is next to impossible...but doable with a cap space team like Detroit...but only if $2-3M is retained and 1st and another good young player comes with the deal....but , yeah

Watching the Worlds, Gelnnie & Abbey playing for Team USA. Pretty decent performance…playing Norway now. The ticker has player stats for NHL play-off teams, some interesting (& disturbing numbers - Binnington’s Save% is arounf 86%!!!).

Anyway, the following 2 names are only submitted because I’m trying to throw out something for each team:
Bjugstad, Dumba. Both would only be acceptable w/either salary retention (least preferred) or sweeteners (most preferred). Bjugstad’s 28 & is serviceable as a C. Dumba’s more interesting & has the potential to obtain more/better draft picks for sweeteners, believe his 2yr stint on the trade-block gives some leverage to DET.

Again, not a whole lot of “must haves” here. You mentioned Philly - I think there’s more to them that is alluring. Avs noted Ghost (another name that’s brutal to spell!!!). I’m not a big fan of this guy now. His stats are in the crapper, but like any other proposed move this one would require significant sweeteners. Going to take a look at Cap’s info for them before I name names, but taking Ghost is going to be a 1st as a starting point.

I would rather have Sanhiem,
Voracek (retain $1.25M), Sandhiem for the NYR 2nd and Brome's rights

In a must-win game for Canada, Power played a team-high (by nearly five minutes) 26:07, had one assist and two shots on goal. With Colin Miller out for the tournament, Power basically is the No. 1 defenseman at 18 years old.

This is the guy we need to draft!

Only way we get Owen Power is winning the draft lottery because he likely goes 1st overall. I would love that but the Wings are more likely to pick 6th or 7th. At that spot i expect Power, Hughes, Edvinsson and Clarke to be likely gone, Eklund and Guenther could also be gone. Matthew Bernier, Mason McTavish, Kent Johnson could be there or could be gone.

Personally i'm more interested in one of those defensemen. Eklund and Guenther are skilled wingers but the Wings don't need wingers. The centers could be ok but they might not play center in the NHL and they don't look like they could bump Larkin to the 2nd line in the future...McTavish is also more of a scorer than a playmaker which is not really what the Wings need in a center. Jesper Wallstedt and Sebastian Cossa are the top goalies slated to go in the 1st round and i wouldn't mind one of them with the Caps pick but not in the top 10 and they could be gone when the Caps pick comes up. Fyodor Svechkov is kind of the center i'm hoping the Wings get with the Caps pick though.

Bjugstad is an injury prone bottom 6 guy. No need for him.

Dumba is a douchebag and is a RD which isn’t really a need.

Thanks for that! It’s been a challenge to keep up some days, but a fun exercise for sure. I agree on Philly having much more useable players. Not sure Minny would yield much of anything for Detroit

Like I said, no one really trips my trigger, just throwing names out there. My main thought is what could be we get flipping them at next year’s TDL…

I did try to find some stuff on Dumba, between pruning my trees & managing the fire….didn’t find much. You do bring a good point; whomever is brought in must adhere to the atmosphere/culture being built. Anyone with issues won’t cut it.

RNH would be a pretty good move, I think. The deal would definitely require some retention and/or a sweetener. Could fill a void for a bit until the kids grow.

Watched Germany play at Worlds today.

Seider’s a (frank)ing beast. There, I said the “f” word because the emphasis that comes with that word is deserved. I wasn’t so much watching him WITH the puck, but without, trying to see how he anticipates & positions himself. He was almost always where the puck ended up. When he hits his stride in the NHL…. Damn. Just damn. His shots have eyes, his hits bring devastation, his out-let hits the tape. A-(frank)ing-mazing. The guy is absolutely amazing.

I’m telling ya, give the Wings 3-5 and people are going to be amazed. The turn-over, the cleansing of the payroll & roster has been inspired. Excited for the draft, excited for camp, excited to watch GR!!! I’m going to snag the AHL package so I can catch those games. The amount of talent in the pipeline should really cause concern for opposing teams, but in GR & in the NHL.

Trade him to Buffalo for either Eichel or Rienhart!
