I don’t know. But, I had a headline for it last year! “Detroit Brock City”, Boeser late than never….

I’d love to get that kid. Thanks for reading! I’m watching Czech vs Sweden keeping an eye on Hronek, Vrana and Zadina. Zadina had a big reverse hit early. He’s really gotten more physical. Would love to see him net a few in this tournament

As far as Detroit and Washington being trade partners again down the road I think that Daniel Sprong could be Intriguing for the Red Wings.

Nice. It’s all wide open. That feels like a deal that could be done

I had no idea the Wings had so much cap space to work with. They can honestly dictate terms to a ton of teams. I would not be surprised to see several deals made, though I honestly could not guess who. Any team in cap constraints?

I could see Yzerman making a trade for Sam Reinhart. I'm not a huge fan of him but he did go back to center with Eichel out and is from the 2014 draft which Yzerman seems to love so much. He should cost much less than Eichel and likely would be an upgrade over anything the Wings have for 2nd center. Problem might be Reinhart is sick of losing but he might feel better about the Wings turning it around sooner over Buffalo.

Also could see Yzerman making a play for Werenski if he were to hit the market...especially if the Wings missed out on Power, Hughes, Edvinsson or Clarke which is very possible unless the Wings win the lottery.

One thing i noticed about the 2014 NHL draft is that Holland traded up in the 3rd round to draft Turgeon at 63. They gave up pick 73 and a 2015 3rd rounder to do so...with the Wings pick at 73 the Jackets picked up Elvis Merzlikins.

I really liked Reinhart at center. Seemed to come alive. I wouldn’t mind that at all with him between Zadina and Vrana. Yeesh, yeah. It doesn’t hurt as much as Quincey costing us Vasilevsky but still unpleasant

Hronek and a pick would work.
Would really miss his character. Good Guy.

While I like Reinhart if they make a move for a center I’d love it to be for someone that could bump Larkin to 2C.

I think Toronto will be OK, especially if they guide Kerfoot to Seattle.
Tampa is over $5M over the cap for next season already! No room to sign their UFA's at all! Johnson and a pending RFA and 3rd to Seattle will get them close. They have to sign a back-up goalie and some depth D also...so more moves are necessary.

Hyman needs a raise as well. They have 12 UFAs and 2 RFAs with 12 million to spend. Anderson is UFA.

Isles have 7 RFA's to sign, with Pillich and Beauvillier needing a raises. They need to dump cap! They have Boychuk's $6M in LTIR to help, They may have to let Cizikas go(UFA). Maybe Seattle will rescue them and take Clutterbuck ($3.5M)

With the following as a backdrop,

"Give me a team you believe will be conducting business with Detroit. Steve Yzerman has pegged age 26 (and younger) as about the ideal age of bringing someone in with term. He’s stated that he isn’t interested in trading picks or prospects for someone who will be gone in 3 or 4 seasons. "

Another poster added that a wish would be to get someone who could push Larkin down to 2C.

Put those two together and that narrows the focus down to literally 1 ... Jack Eichel.
26, Elite 1C, 5 years of term, played at 1.0 ppg with multiple nagging injuries this past season, and was at 1.2 ppg the season before which was called due to covid.
But we know he is injured, yet with more info on progression with the R&R treatment strategy and likely next steps should be coming in the next 2 weeks.

Buffalo could be interested in going with futures as the return in a trade, given it is likely Eichel, Reinhart and Ristolainen will be dealt, kicking in ANOTHE F'g rebuild.

One package I would like for the Sabres to offer up is Eichel and Olofsson.
In the '19-'20 season, the two were on an 82 gm pace for 150 pts combined; with ~55-60 of them G's.
Olofsson is soon to be 26 (July), who excels on the PP, but contributes at 3rd line rates at EV. His 2 way game is decent, so he isn't one dimensional either.
That would create a significant value for Wings, while the Sabres look to restock the cupboard with young, promising prospects and picks.

Thoughts?

It would be prudent to wait til Jack is cleared of his injury. Maybe Sabers management wishes to push a trade earlier and not deal with the injury/recovery process? I would rather see Stevie pursue a trade for Rhino, as he is a known performer and healthy. Couple him with KO(retain $1M) for a 2nd and Cholo. This would allow the Sabers plenty of cap space to go big game hunting.

I would love Eichel if the price is right but if it’s anything near the ideas from the recent Buffalo blog I’m out. Olofsson is intriguing but where does he fit in a winger group of Vrana, Bertuzzi, Zadina, Raymond, Fabbri, Namestnikov, Panik, etc.

Like with most forums, opinions are all over the board, the Bflo Buzz board is the same.
I'm not sure Detroit makes a good trade partner as both teams are looking to build the pipeline with high quality prospects. Is Detroit in a position to "go for it" if they acquired Jack...or do they need another couple years?
Buffalo absolutely needs to hit on an Eichel trade. He's an elite 1C. That demands a high quality return...it means it hurts for both teams to give up what they have to in order to acquire what they want.

2C's are hard to find. 1C's are traded far and few between. The return needs to reflect that.

For Eichel, a general outline of a trade return should be 3 - 4 pieces of young prospects and picks depending on the mix of talent;
*2021 -1st
*Elite Prospect
*A-level prospect
*Roster player?

2021-1st
Elite Prospect = Raymond
A-level prospect = ?
Roster Player = ?

While including KO in a deal is attractive, it really isn't desirable for the Sabres to deflate the value of Reinhart.
Okposo's contract is high, but if Sabres are trading $20-$25m in Cap away this offseason, Cap hit is no longer an issue...plus the biggest Cap relief benefit is during the '21'22 season, after which a Buyout is very attractive.

Take KO out of the equation.
What is the reasonable value to acquire a solid 1RW / 2C combination player that produces 60-65 pts consistently (25 G's)??
