The Yzer-plan is slow and steady. But I feel he will make a significant trade this summer for a proven NHLer for picks!

It's a process and you can't put a time limit on It, I believe Yzerman Is the right guy for the challenge and I compare the undertaking to pruning a tree.

For sure. Maybe even the guys who burn the undergrowth in the forests. There was a lot of cleanup and Yzerman has done a ton of it. Really cleared the table after years of just recycling the lineup

be interesting to see if Bobby Ryan comes back.
they need to make room for Seider on defense and Veleno, Raymond, etc. up front.

Nice write up Jeremy!
I think you are pretty close.
Out:
Filppula
Nielsen
Helm
Brome
Glendenning or Gagne
Two of these three out Staal-Deykeser-Stetcher
Possibly lose Svechnikov-Smith or Stetcher to Seattle
In:
Veleno
Seider
Rasmussen full time
Free agent or trade center
Free agent or trade left d unless Johansson surprises us all.

Could see him using the added 2n’s/3rd to move up on a guy in the 1st Round. Maybe Simon Edvinsson or Luke Hughes. Wouldn’t be shocked to see him stockpile picks for 2022 though with eyes set on the likes of Joshua Niedermayer, Timothy Almgren, and Devin Kaplan if not guys like Charlie Leddy and Mattias Havelid, among others.

If not trading up, 2021 still has some big time value adds to be had in 2nd and 3rd in the form of Roman Schmidt (looked great opposite Cam York this year and I wouldn’t put it past PHI to trade back for him and accumulate a lil extra on their earlyish draft slot), Chase Stillman, Cameron MacDonald, and Owen Pedersen even later in the draft.

Here are my first four 2021 draft selections:
1a. Wings get lucky and Simon Edvinsson (D) is still on the board
1B. Sasha Pastujov (LW) USNDT or trade the Washington pick and a second for Sebastain Cossa (G)
2a. Samuel Helenus (C) Finland
2b. Cole Huckins (C)

I do believe in SY and what he is trying to accomplish HOWEVER, I don't believe anything will change until there is a change behind the bench! What business does anyone know of where you can fail for 5-6 yrs in a row and still have a job?

How great is it to see Weiss’s payroll off the books. As Stevie builds he will keep in mind the importance of the bottom 6 for depth.

I realize you win some and lose some, and you have to take a chance sometimes and have to give up assets to do so, but the one I didn't like was trading Alec Regula for Perlini. He was a high draft pick and Yzerman took a chance that he could resurrect his career. It worked out with Fabbri but not with Perlini, but I think they gave up a solid d-man who is going to be a reliable blueliner for many years to come. My son played both with and against him and he's a great kid and a very solid player. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the moves Stevie has made.

Yeah, well, we gave him up for exactly zero return.
