Tampa and Colorado are the two most complete teams...yet you picked Florida to beat Tampa. I'm confused.
Also, I believe Carolina already announced Nedeljkovic is starting tonight. I'm not sure it makes a huge difference. His stats are a bit better than Mrazek, but both are heavily insulated by a tight defensive system that allowed the 2nd fewest even-strength goals in the NHL. This is how a guy like Osgood won a Cup. The team defense in front of him was stellar. If I was writing a story line on this series I might play up the angle of how Nashville used to be have the best group of d-men in the NHL, but that title now belongs to Carolina. Hamilton, Slavin, Pesce, Skjei... |

Ek doesn't even read his own post. In his original Caps/Bruins post it says Bruins in 6, and then decided to change it to Bruins in 7 because they lost the first game. Good one Ek! |

I really don't understand what's going on.
The Blues have two players in COVID protocol, including their leading scorer David Perron.
The Blues had multiple games postponed earlier in the year due to opponents having players in COVID protocol. There was a Vegas game postponed because one player, Pieterangelo, tested positive.
There was a stretch of games where I believe the Avalanche postponed which caused the Blues to play the Coyotes for seven games straight and set an NHL regular season record in that regard. It was brutal.
Those were less significant games.
I don't think the Blues win more than a game or two in the series anyway, but not postponing feels incredibly wrong here. |

Canes had a few postponed but that was because the season was only like 5 days old.

Just a friendly piece of advice:
You may want to lock the mask prediction threads - or you are going to have to give out 100 masks as we all edit our selections to perfect.
Yes, I will be one of the cheaters. - Atomic Wedgie
There is only 1 mask. And only 1 Buzztron. Also, Ek just changed his pick from Bruins in 6 to Bruins in 7 so feel free to do the same. Lots of games left. Hi kids. |

With Perron out Kostin will make the game 1 lineup. Would not at all surprise me to see him take some runs at McKinnon and others. Will want to make it hard for Chief to take him out of the line up. |

Cedric Paquette and Jaccob Slavin skated in the morning skate today but Paquette is out and Slavin is a game time decision.
Canes going with:
Nino Niederreiter - Sebastian Aho - Teuvo Teravainen
Warren Foegele - Vincent Trocheck - Martin Necas
Andrei Svechnikov - Jordan Staal - Jesper Fast
Jordan Martinoon - Steven Lorentz - Brock McGinn
Brady Skjei - Dougie Hamilton
Jake Bean - Brett Pesce
Jake Gardiner - Jani Hakanpaa
Alex Nedeljkovic starts.
If Slavin is good to go, (which I suspect he will be), Gardiner drops out and Skjei and Bean both drop down a pair. |

I believe what Ryan O'Reilly said about beating Colorado even though I think the Avs are the second best team In the league behind TB. |

Still upset the Wings took Rasmussen at #9 and let Necas slip to #12. Ken Holland and his emphasis on being heavy. And of course you have Mrazek because the Wings didn't want to hurt Jimmy Howard's feelings.

Hey Bingo. Since the stats say Carolina has a huge edge in special teams and in goaltending, do you think picking a winner is difficult here. Trying to decide on a bet. I asked Ek but looks like that got deleted. This is easy right? Canes in 4 or 5. |

One team has been really good all around all year long, the other hasn't been very good at all but won a bunch of tight games against some other bad teams.
lets see what they did head to head:
Canes 4 - 2 Preds
Canes 4 - 2 Preds
Canes 3 - 2 Preds
Canes 5 - 1 Preds
Canes 4 - 1 Preds
Canes 3 - 1 Preds
Preds 3 - 1 Canes
Preds 5 - 0 Canes
Canes 6-2-0 with 24 goals
Preds 2-5-1 with 17 goals
looks like a coin flip to me!
