So that's what we're doing...we're rebuilding again?
The org thinks it has the right to get rid of Eichel, Rhino, etc. because these players have bad attitudes...
HELLO MCFLY!
Why the (frank) do you think they ended up with these bad attitudes??
EDIT: literally the only way I could stomach continuing to watch this absolute tire fire of an organization is if the bring in Torts next year. - feetontheair22
If they don't want to be here anymore, then they have to go.
And I wouldn't hold your breath on Torts. |

I agree that if they want out they have more than erned it by putting up with this garbage for the last howevermany years. I just read quotes from Kim peg.....ahhh.....I mean Kevyn Adams...that are essentially trying to paint this as the players fault for not being team players.

Their first and Buf chooses their choice of goalies that they take. Done deal. - SDSabre
So this is interesting. On one hand, it depends on where the pick ends up being.
1st Overall, they keep it because first ever pick for expansion team 1st overall, perfect match (even though there might not be a consensus 1st overall player).
If pick 5, might not expect player to play on NHL team for a couple years and swapping Sam (proven NHL young player) could make this match well.
Very interesting. |

For what though?
Samsonite doesn't get you a top-5 pick, they don't have any prospects yet and he's worth more than a 2nd - jcragcrumple
Curious why you would say that?
At the risk of evoking the rath of Sbroads
Sam has produced at 0.65 Pts per game since entering the NHL. This past season, he produced at 0.71 and excelled after Eichel was injured and transitioned to 1C. His possession metrics are pretty good, albeit he benefits from playing with Jack given his elite zone exit and zone entry with possession talents....none the less this season with out jack for a bulk, he still managed to produce at 50% CF ( maybe I saved myself the scorn)
Sam's 0.65 would place him as follows, based on comparison of players selected in the NHL Draft (data from Hockeydb.com):
- Compared to average of last 3 drafts, between 2nd-OA (.69) and 3rd-OA (0.57)
- Compared to average of last 5 drafts, between 3rd-OA (.67) and 4th-OA (.63)
- Compared to average of last 7 drafts, very close to 2nd-OA (.67) and 4th-OA (.68)
- Compared to average of last 10 drafts, very close to 2nd-OA (0.67)
Based on above Sam should garner a top 5 no problem...and likely 2nd or 3rdOA. His successful transition to C and play as 1C only helped him out.

I like your Sam to Vancouver trade...but I had a Saul to Paul transformation on him. Keep him if you can - Michael Pachla
Nice name(s) drop, Pachs! I wonder how many readers know what the reference is?
Yeah, keeping Sam and Jack and Risto and Skinner sounds nice, but I am firmly in the camp that says, "we haven't won crap with them, so maybe we should try without them".
If Sam want out to the West, give him to Seattle along with Skinner and/or Okposo for a 3rd round pick. |

No. No, on Sam + Skinner / Okopso for 3rd round pick.
You want to rebuild forever, I see. |

If you've worked for the same poop sack company for half a decade and it's been riddled with ineptitude, should you move on or continue to bash your head against the wall and keep dealing with the ineptitude? |

I'm not sticking up for the organization, but that "sh!t sack company" has paid their employees VERY well.

The problem is that there are potentially 30, soon to be 31, less sh!t sack companies that can pay them just as well. It's easy to compare them to us in the middle class. The comparison they care about is with their peers. |

It all depends, am I still making good money, if I leave for supposed greener territory am I getting the same benefits or better. Yes I am making the same or better money, but how is my HI, Vacation time, Personal Days so forth. Some people like there jobs, but a lot hate them just as much, but most aren't making what these athletes do and will make once they move on. But yes I would, might not like it, but as long as my paycheck makes me happy and takes good care of my Family I will deal with it |

OK, that's fine and fair, but again, it's very simple. And I don't think it was meant maliciously, but as Adams said (and I'm sure any GM would say it), we want people that want to be here.
He can't control the last decade of ineptitude. All he can do is try to rectify it. That's it. He has one job to do: find the 23 best players that want to wear the Sabres crest. That's the biggest thing he needs to focus on. |

On the flip side, who's the last guy to be traded for a top 5 pick? There isn't really much to base this on. I don't think he'd get a top 5, but it's just gut feel. 7 years of team control vs Sam's final year is a massive different to factor in.

Agreed.
It was said well yesterday...
Adams is concerned about the here and now along with the future. It is the absolute best mindset to have. Be aware of the past, learn from it, use ou to become better...but don't dwell on it as that serves 1 purpose..to waste valuable time and energy thereby taking way from pursuing the best solution jow and in the future.
Jack, Sam and Risto are focused on the past and using it to project the future as a never-ending poop show for the future. I get it. They want out.
So, meld the two together.
Trade Jack, Sam, Risto, Girgs, maybe even McCabe to secure assets and currency necessary to improve the future. The losing stink on these players came out in the form of frustration Monday. Clear the air, build back better. |

Adams was in charge of last offseason, and how'd that work out? Why did it take him so long to poop can Ralph?
Why are we acting like Adams has no culpability so far? |

To be fair, the overall quality of this draft does help the argument that Sam is worth the 4th or 5th overall pick this year. |

Adams made a ton of changes. They didn't work out. Are we going to act like some of these players on this team are and dwell, or let the man try and do his job? He doesn't sound like a guy that dwells on sh!t. It didn't work out (but let's face it, they signed the biggest free agent on the market. It wasn't like they sat on their hands), so time to move forward, with or without the three amigos. |
