Yes, because 7 is more than 15. Good Lord Ek...think before, while and once again just prior to posting this stuff.

Poile Is an excellent GM and has been for quite awhile the only glaring mistake that I have seen In his tenure as Nashville's GM was hiring Hynes as coach.

Umm... Only if you count last year, where they failed to get passed the play-in round, which I don't... And I'm a fan. I haven't been satisfied with just making the playoffs for a long time now, and unfortunately this is all it is this year. The Preds aren't a sleeping monster, they're a scrappy team who had a lot of young guys come into their own and played over their heads for a couple months to help compliment a red-hot goaltender. They're just not on the level of Carolina, Tampa, or Florida right now. I have a hard time not seeing a sweep by Carolina in this series unless Saros steals one for us. That's not even a knock on my team, I just think Carolina's that good this year.

You're giving Poile too much credit. Don't forget, the team he cobbled together for the start of this season was abysmal. Easily one of the worst teams in the league and looked destined for a lottery pick. It took half the team getting put on IR, forcing Poile to bring up a bunch of hungry young guys that he had buried on the taxi squad. If anything, the Preds had to overcome Poile to make the playoffs this season.

He didn’t say there weren’t any longer than 7. He said their 7, I’m assuming because of the lack of top end talent (let alone generational, as some have been blessed with), is more impressive than others. They didn’t get there with a few top picks in years that had heavy hitters sitting there and rode their careers, sprinkling in where they needed people as they cruised along.

I guess?

Meh. Who cares?

Besides, “play in” isn’t the same as playoff. They didn’t make it last year.

100% what Squatchy just said. The team is being carried by depth players and goaltending right now, and that won't last forever. Poile and Hynes didn't turn the team around and save the season; the depth players saved both of those guys' jobs. I, personally, would've been happier with no playoffs, a high draft pick and those two being let go this Summer. Now, the team is sure to be a pretender next year, as well.

Hi kids. I'm back from an 8-week sailboat vacation. Just in time for the playoffs. My internet was spotty so I was hoping you guys could fill me in on what I missed. I guess if Nashville extended their streak then this means Columbus didn't go on a run and win the division? I saw Taylor Hall on the Bruins so I guess he didn't go to Calgary? Did Ekholm end up in Philly? Who got Kuemper - Leafs or Avs? Anyway, this streak by Nashville is amazing. What an experience to see a game there!

Ek has had a boner for Poile since he was running around the spectrum in 1966.
You also missed Eks great calls on the Skinner for the waived Tyler Johnson trade and the great predictions of the trades for Carter, Foligno, Dubnyk, Rittich, Gustafson, Mantha, Benn and many more.

Mantha was traded?? Was that like a 3-way trade that ended with Laine and Barzal fulfilling their dreams in LA?

Yeah 7 is clearly more impressive than 15.
By the way, how many cups have they won in that 7 year stretch? Based on the math used for this story, 0 cups must be more impressive than 3....

Its not like the Penguins arent constantly beset with injuries.
One season, 2011, the Pens had both Malkin and Crosby out with season ending injuries but still made post season. And every year there are a rash of significant injuries with the Pens somehow overcoming to make the post season. Yet that somehow Pales in comparison to a squad that has only made the playoffs in 7 straight years in a much easier division.

The Preds may be a tough series, but I can still see the 'Canes getting through. They are too fast and have too much defense. Oh, and unless Rinne is using time travel, the 'Canes have the edge in Goal.

In his own mind, Ek thinks he alone is the reason the Predators are still in Nashville

Saros is the Preds' starter now and has been one of the best goalies in the league over the last month and a half. The Canes' goalies have been very good, as well, but Saros has played more and had to work a lot harder. At worst, the teams are a wash in net. You're right that the Canes have the edge elsewhere and will be favored to win, though. Even Preds fans don't like their chances.

I think Poile's biggest blunder is not exploiting his ability to transcend time. So he can go back in time to run laps at the Spectrum but he couldn't hit more homeruns at the draft?

Streak? 7 in a row??? They never even made the playoffs last year. Eklund once again shows he knows nothing.

Lol no. We don’t see eye to eye on most things. I mean, I straight up said in that post that they didn’t make it to the playoffs last year. Dunno if you noticed. Play ins are not playoffs

I just attempt to see where other people are coming from.

Yeah, how many teams would have longer streaks if the league let almost everyone into playoffs when they happened to have a rough year? Think St. Louis would have a streak of 10 playoff appearances if the rule changes for making it had been different just one year earlier. Guessing there are lots of teams in similar situations.
