I think you might see some UFA's take 2-3 year deal so they can cash out when the cap goes up significantly.
At 31 he can still sign another 5 year deal and get more AAV - Stripes77
That is a mighty large chance he'd be taking, banking on that. His agent should shut down that idea right away.
You're talking about a player that rivals Pietrangelo in terms of on ice impact.

And then get hurt and not be able to sign a lucrative deal.... not gunna happen. They're not going to wait to get paid. Someone will pay them and give them the term.

I'm thinking that for Reinhart and Sabres.
Between 3-5 - jcragcrumple
That would be pointless for sam imo 3 yesrs |

I would think 5 or 6 yrs would be good for Sam. Gives him another chance to sign, Sam seems to be that kind of player who won't age bad, he just never gets serious injuries. |

Very true, hopefully he doesn't, but he is always out there does not miss games, very reliable in that aspect. |

Tough call. I wouldn't if I were the Sabres. Close but not close enough. - Michael Pachla
Seems to be the opinion of the group. This is what he gets for always letting a blooper in with 38 seconds left to ruin his own shutout. |

that's what I'd try to sell them on. It gives him a chance to maybe add a cup to his resume and still have time to cash in big one more time.
I know, it's a pipe dream, but you'd be dumb not to try and sell it to him anyway. |

They are both predicted to get big increases.
Do you think Carolina is ready to offer $72M for 8 years for Hamilton?
- kingcong39
close to 30 mil a year on that blue line |

One of Skjei or Gardiner will be gone in the expansion draft. |

Right? He also let in many softies. But he did some remarkable work in the crease more often than not |

Figure those softies would have increased his save percentage to where he would be most certainly be a lock to get in |

Couldn't hurt. A gold would've helped, but he was stellar in that tourney. USA didn't have the horses and he's the only reason the got that far |

Maybe. My guess is they don't even try to sign Foegele until after the expansion draft. |

That's why I think the Luongo/Florida comparison is his best bet. They both played parts of 11 seasons with their teams. Neither won anything. I wouldn't retire his number but that's the case for it to be done.
Good on him if they decide to do it though. I really don't have strong feelings either way - jcragcrumple
Don't use other teams bad PR moves as justification to do the same.
Should be reserved for all time NHL greats. Miller was above average to good. No where near a NHL great. |

Either the kid has a sense of humor or he just doesn't know but the kid drafted by the Bills with the last night Wildgoose picked number 32...
Let's send him on a wild goose chase

game 1 vs swiss stopped 14 of 15 in 3-1 win
game 2 vs norway stopped 10 of 11 in 6-1 win
game 3, he was huge stopped 42 of 45 in 5-3 win over canada
quarterfinals stopped all 19 in 2-0 win over swiss
semi finals stopped all 18 in a 6-1 win over finland thomas replaced him later in the game as they had big lead
finals stopped 36 of 39 vs canada in the 4-3 ot loss
I think you could make a case if he stopped crosby in the finals and they won, he could be a fringe guy
in the end crosby owned him at every spotlight moment
