I saw someone post the 49ers attempted trade 3rd overall + for Rodgers. I thought it was a joke. What the hell? They just traded there next 3-1st round picks to get up to #3 now they don't have a guy they like enough to draft there? Wow.

I've liked the Ehlers comparison. The actual best player in this draft will probably be drafted at like 25th OA.

I found 2 examples of the best player taken in a draft being the 25th or later overall pick since the 2004 draft.

The 2011 draft where Nikita Kucherov was taken 58th overall in the 2nd round.

Perhaps the best was the 2010 draft when Mark Stone was taken 178th overall in the 6th round. Stone exploded in scoring the 2 years after he was drafted, in the WHL (106 in 71 and 123 in 66).

Very good trade for us, imagine celebrating that anniversary with trading for his replacement in Daniel Hunter. Don't know how we would fit him under the Cap, but would take care of Edge Rusher for awhile.

I think they go the cheaper way and grab an edge or a center in RD 1 to prepare them to start in 22. CB in round 2. Iffy.
