Florida reassembled the bottom third of its roster with deals ostensibly made around the trade deadline to improve the team. One dman, Stillman, found work in Chicago but his counterpart, L Carlsson, has yet to suit up. That could change tonight as the team's face off in a meaningful game more in Florida's behalf. We skated vs them as the season finally started up and there were questions how both teams would fare this season. Turns out Coach Q has his team running on high octane offense while defense and goaltending has been merely average.

If you don't see Carlsson, you will surely see another ex Blackhawk. Forsling has been effective while taking a regular turn.

And this too btw: First round goaltender S Knight recently debuted. Last draft Aaskarov was selected in round one and there is a Swedish netminder review this draft somewhere between #10-15 on Wiz draftsite.com.

Oh the glory that comes with winning. If playoff match up is how I see them if the season ended today, compare Stanley Cup champs Tampa vs Florida. Tampa wins even minus Stamkis and Kucherov!

- jhawk59

Carlsson is currently down in the AHL with Syracuse. Forsling has been really good for FL this season, I can’t believe they snagged him off waivers. Spencer Knight is in goal tonight. The FL lines Theo included in his blog were the lines listed for their last game, but Q switched things up after only a shift or two.
How has Stillman looked so far?

Imagine he came to the Bears. Imagine he plays some tight end too
Dreaming. Will they trade up for a qb. At what price is their cost to do so? More dreaming?

A few Euro free agent rumors, some of which isn't new to those who keep up with hockey news.

- Been reported a week ago by Scott Powers of the Athletic that there may be a package deal to not only sign Maxim Shalunov (C/W) but also sign Damir Zhafyarov (W) who is supposed to be a playmaker but limited upside, i.e. middle 6 ceiling but more realistically bottom 6. Not sure what a "package deal" means in this case.

- A few days ago the Hawks have been linked to KHL defenseman Nikita Lyamkin. Similar size as Zadorov with better puck moving skills and better defense. I read a report that Lyamkin's skating is not very good, though.

- Rumors seem to have resurfaced about the Hawks being one of many teams in on Swedish goalie Arvid Soderblom.

My initial take: yes on Soderblom but pass on the others.

- Theo Fox

Comes time whence too many middle or bottom line players being signed. Whose job do they take in Rockford. If Bowman signs anyone, do they give up on Chalupa or Soderlund? I don't know the terms of each players contract. Probably not just one year deals Chalupa and Soderlund signed. They both showed promise but how long do you give each player or do you sacrifice them and bring in new prospects

He’s still pretty raw and inexperienced, but I think he is going to be a good defender.

He could very well be but right now he isn’t the best Hawk Defenseman and he’s not even close.

Apparently, Forsling was too young the first time Q had him to coach him up.

Got it, someone disagreeing with you = attacking you.
- Ogilthorpe2

There is a difference between disagreeing/making counter arguments and attacking.

Like Chunks post which was thought out and brought up good counter points.

But okkkkkk. Thanks for adding to the discussion.

Still waiting for Dylan Sikura to be an NHL regular. Lock for middle six. Certain people on here disagreed about that when I went against their belief he belonged in the NHL.

We did move him for De Haan so he had some worth. Too bad De Haan has continued to fall apart. He was a pretty solid D for a while. I haven't seen Forsling play lately. Is he actually pretty solid for the Panthers?

He wants to get closer to the west coast. Played college ball at Cal and that's where is he from. Supposedly SF offered a package to GB for him and was turned down. Rodgers wasn't happy about that.

I'm apparently not nearly as high on him as others. He's played in a little over half their games. I personally believe he's only in because Ekblad is out. He's not "bad", but he's got the same issues he had while here. Not great in his own zone, folds to pressure, and is a bit too aggressive in the O-zone.

He'd fit right into the current Hawks D...

Russian players seem to work out well on some teams, but for whatever reason not so much on the Hawks. Based on their age and experience, Shalunov 28, Zhafyarov 27 , Lyamkin 25, they would probably be on the team next year. Are they part of the future, temporary place holders, or would they just take away developmental time from the younger players?

Edit -Zhafyrov is a smurf by the way - 174 cm, 77 kg (5'-9", 170 lbs)
