Absolutely. Dubois, Copp, Lowry, Stanley, Benn, heck even Ehlers hits/fights. Jets are the tougher team for sure. Time to set the tone. Win or Lose, make sure the Leafs hate playing against the Jets. Can't wait to see TSN's overhyped story lines after every game. - bikeguy99
Teams in the bottom of the league should pipe it LOL |

I’m a Jet fan but to say the Jets are tougher than the Leafs? Foligno, Simmonds, Thornton, Holl, Bogosian and Muzzin give the Leafs an edge and then the fact that they are WILLING to play physical makes it a huge edge.
Wheeler knocked out .....nothing ...crickets
Lowry knocked out ......nothing....crickets
Perrault head shot....nothing...crickets
The league knows what the Jets are and we will get destroyed in the playoffs again as we hope to score PP goals and turn the other cheek.
For 3 years I’ve been saying we are soft, beyond soft....tell me again how tall someone is, or how much someone weighs.
If we get pass the first round I’d be shocked |

TSN's storylines are very brutal at times, even more so this year maybe because the teams played each other so many times. Lots of reaching for stories, as much as I love the Leafs, hearing about the veteran presence of Thronton, Spezza etc is getting tiresome.
Jets are definitely the tougher team, I think the Leafs are just trying to add that to their game to keep up after years out being brutalized in the playoffs. |

Who on the Jets can take Simmonds? Foligno?
Stanley big can’t fight
Lowry willing but need him on ice
Thompson apparently retired from fighting
Benn? He’s played one game and lots of miles
Who’s the tough Jet? |

I have to agree that it's just TSN looking for easy readership numbers. I think both teams would rather stay healthy and realize an bad injury could occur to either side. Breaking a hand on a helmet in a fight is just not worth the risk at this time of year. Who wins this particular game has very little meaning. |

Exactly !
Season kind of went down the tube for me when our Captain is laid out and we do nothing .
This isn’t a Neanderthal 1980’s take , simply saying when you show weakness in this sport you’re done. We have been and our weak.
Too bad because we have a great goalie and 3 strong lines.
Playoffs will be like Calgary series. Quick and painful |

Only Brian Burke and the relics hosting on Sportset and TSN are concerned with this nonsense about toughness. None of the recent cup winners are built with players considered to be tough. Talent wins in the modern NHL. Tough teams usually enjoy extended summer breaks.
All teams lose players to injury, and this is usually more so for the teams with grittier rosters. |

Tampa got swept then added a bunch of toughness and grinders to win the cup, Washington definitely had a physical element to their cup wining team and so did the Blues, the playoffs are a different style of game without question, never going to win a cup on straight talent/skill. |

Totally agree, the Jets are too small, soft, not physical or built for the playoffs.
Even some of the other Leafs that aren't necessarily known for physical play at least have size like Engvall, Mikheyev and Galchenyuk, hell even Spezza is 6'3".. Lol.. That size is tough to play against and wears on a D core, the Jets forwards aren't wearing down the oppositions defense.
I wish the Jets had a 4th line of bigger, physical players instead of smallish 33+ year olds.
And then there's the Jets smallish, slowish D core of mostly 3rd pair dmen.. Lol
I'm a Jets fan but I'm a realist, I just don't think this team is built to win.

Copp doesn't hit that much, I don't see the Jets being tougher then the Leafs. |

The Jets are the second tallest team and the third heaviest in the North Division.

Find that very hard to believe, also having one or two very big guys like Stanley, Forbort and Lowry can bring up an overall average but player by player the Jets aren't very big especially compared to the Leafs. |

Hahahahha watching a 40 year old cry like a baby in Thornton is funny!! I’d tell him to grow up but he is already middle aged |

It’s sad for leafs and leaf fans that sportsnet, tsn and now the leagues refs all treat them like infants in need of helicopter moms to protect and defend them.
It’s embarrassing for the NHL actually!!!
I am laughing at them, |

Jets can’t win a gritty physical game.
It’s only going to get worse
Connor jumped in when Wheeler was hurt and Ehlers mixing it up with Thorton..... our 2 top goal scorers.
Btw - remember when Thompson was signed for his grit, toughness and experience. Have you seen him even lay a body check this year? |

I think you see a different Thompson in the playoffs. Certainly the Jets need some toughness - can't rely on Ehlers and Connor. PLD showed up to play - great sign!
When you get a very debatable "embellishment" call, and a roughing to Connors for basically saying "what are you doing", you know you have a problem.
I can understand why a ref gets suspended in his final few games.
Having said that, the Jets can - and will - play harder - they didn't deserve to win! I'm tired of Scheif "lolly-gagging" it to the bench - maybe a good lesson to be benched! |
