A day later I’m a little less pissed... if Murray wasn’t getting the offers back I don’t think you can make trades just to make trades... Let’s see what happens at the draft..

Although boring Bob had another lifeless trade deadline, I like this trade for the ducks because I feel that it was a low risk high reward trade. Hakanpaa is 29 and is what he is. Fleury is young and although he hasn’t developed into the player he was expected, he’s still young and can still develop. Higher ceiling than Hakanpaa and comes with an additional year and low cap hit. Fleury was buried behind a solid D corps and hasn’t been given the chance to truly blossom. But, only time will tell.

Other than that, Bob isn’t doing much, if anything to better this team.

Hakanpaa was fine when he was a 5/6 defender but when he was forced to move up due to Lindholm's injury, he really struggled. Jani's skating is not very good and he wasn't the best passer, but he was physical which will be missed. The only thing I've heard about Fleury is that he's big and he can skate. The mobility of the blue line will be much better with Haydn instead of Jani. I get what you're saying about the number of players on the back end but chances are the Ducks will once again lose one of them to Seattle in the expansion draft because I can't imagine Seattle being interested in any of the Ducks forwards.

Don’t you find it hard to believe that the Ducks couldn’t find a trade partner for Getzlaf? He sure could’ve helped someone right now.

You must remember who our GM is...

Mr. overvalue all our players / prospects to the Nth degree.... no negotiation skills or acumen.

No. Any team that trades for Getz has to fit his cap hit into their cap space. Even if the Ducks retain 50% (max allowed) that's still over 4M. How many playoff teams have that much space available.

I think the Fleury acquisition may foretell a deal with Seattle. It's possible Murray trades Mahura/Fleury and a pic to Seattle with the understanding they select Henrique in the ED. Or maybe Shatt. Just spitballing here.

Based on history he’s trading Drysdale to make that happen...

Much more upside in Fleury. That 5 year age difference is big, and Fleury has played in one of the most talented/crowded bluelines in the league. He will absolutely get a chance to crack the top 4 with the Ducks, and should make a much larger impact than Hakanpaa.

Comparing Theodore to Drysdale is like comparing hamburger to filet mignon. Don't judge with 20/20 hindsight, judge with what Theodore brought to the table after 15 games.

Sad to see Hakanpaa go, love the physicality he brought to the team. Wonder if he would consider coming back, if (and I really hope they do) Seattle takes Shattenkirk.
