Why not just go with what they have and wait for the injured players to come back?

And I think you were saying Detroit most likely wouldn't want LD anyways?

I'd like to see how Gaudreau plays out for a bit. If he keeps it up I have no problem with him centering ZAR and somebody(maybe Rod)on the fourth line. Then have Zucker with Blueger and Tanev as the third line.

Even with the injured players returning, the Pens aren't exactly stacked like some of the other top teams. (TBL, CAR and TOR come to mind, maybe even throw FLA in to that ring?).

Gaudreau should be stuck on the 4th line over Laff, Jank, Angello, Scevour, or the likes, at least for now.

But Jankowski is one of those guys that sucks ass but for some reason coaches love them.

I know we love to see 5v5 goal production, but the only right shot forward who is doing damage on the Pens PP is Rust. Adding Brown wouldn't be a bad move in that regard.
His salary and cap hit suck and the Pens would definitely leave him exposed in the expansion draft, so the only real way they get that deal done is if they send a big salary in return. Crap, I could totally see them including Petts and a forward, have LA eat some cap, then make a cheap trade for Merill to fill that bottom LD spot.

If Zucker comes back tonight or against Boston and plays with McCann, this could give the Pens a good litmus test of how to proceed. I know McCann started flourishing with Geno and Zucker struggled this year with Geno, but with McCann showing again that he's a capable C, I think a Zucker-McCann gives the Pens a lot more options on moves they can make.

I'm aware some think this would detract from the Blueger line, but if you have the ability to actually roll a 3A/3B line in terms equal minutes then you have a team that is not only deeper, but it keeps them more fresh by sharing that time.

Yea it's ridiculous. And I agree that we need to add somebody but with no one added my lineup should basically be it with full health.

Exactly. I can't remember where I heard it but someone said " The pens are a playoff team with ZAR-BLUE-TANEV as the third line, but are a contender if they are the fourth line."

That line has been awesome, but for whatever reason I'm still not sold on them sustaining their production to be a third line. I'd love to be wrong and chances are with the assets the Pens have to work with it's likely they do remain the Pens third line.

Zuck being a GTD tonight usually means he is in under Sully. Zucker McCann Rodrigues is such a fast line, I agree that it could really give us options. It's cliche to make the comparisons but this is what happened in 2016 when the HBK line became a thing.

It’s also just not a great comparison. None of those guys are near Phil Kessel level.

What I will say though is if that line works out, I’d hold on looking at centers and focus on wings. LW for Geno and a RW to bump off Rodrigues.

LD is definitely the orgs weakest position but Mantha returns something with higher upside than a #4 d man.

I meant in general how the line was formed out of necessity because of injury. Obviously they don't have a Kessel. Hell, the production out of Hagelin that spring wont be matched by any of these guys. BUT, it could be a more than capable third line that allows us to get a LW for Geno's line.

Zucker or McCann must be on the third line IMO so something will give.

Yea if they don't try McCann with Geno again then you have two full lines Jake/Sid/Rust and ZAR/Blue/Tanev. With two pairs Geno/Kap and Canner/Zuck. Or you can have 3 full lines with either McCann or Zucker the lone guys and they need to add a couple wingers.

I wouldn't be against it at all if we could send Pettersson+Sceviour to LA.

Quotes not working...

@feds... if Mantha was right handed, I'd Poulin or Legare for him. Something like Pettersson + Legare for Mantha + Glendening.

But as a lefty... I'm not sure how well he slots into our lineup.

Agreed and not to repeat myself, but if they show chemistry then you go get Geno a LW somehow and let that be your other third line.

Still wouldn’t intrigue me tbh. Poulin and Legare don’t move the needle much for me. Outside of the elite guys prospects from the Q don’t have a great success rate.
