On the chabot playing 30 minutes thumbs down:

This is something Dorian definitely has to address. Ottawa has one of the best prospect pools in the league when it comes to defence but those guys won’t likely be ready for about 2 years and ready for the meaningful minutes that hopeful expectations have for about 3-4 years. Dorian needs to give a chabot a better supporting cast on the back end between now and then starting this off-season.

But the fault does not solely fall on the constructed roster. The coaching has to make the best choices to put their team in the best position to win a game but there is absolutely no reason to be playing your franchise D 30 minutes a night in the middle of a rebuild.

As for guys I would target in the off-season are Martinez and savard in free agency and Dunn through trade.

On a side note perhaps Dorian was pissed because chabot’s fatigue was likely a huge factor in the turnover that led to the OT goal

I’m tired of hearing fatigue and poop plain and simple Chabot made a bonehead pass when he should of skated it in and have a 3-1 ...
He gets paid big dollars my god clean this poop up he turns pucks over all game not because he’s tired

Why can’t it be both?

Was it a boneheaded pass? Yes

Is he being played way too much? Yes

That being said, I’d rather have a dman who tries to push the puck up the ice, making the occasional bad play.....than some dman who does nothing but take 3 strides and dump it in.

Puck movers turn the puck over ALL THE TIME.....it just comes with the territory. A DMan who moves the puck at an elite level without lots of turnovers doesn’t exist.

I wonder if people understand the on ice challenges for a #1 Dman like Chabot playing on a team that is very, very thin when it comes to quality defensive partners.

First, we need to know the opposing team formulates a plan for every game knowing that the key to stopping Ottawa is to contain Chabot in his own end. They try to force him to pass the puck early. They know Ottawa does not have another Dman capable of clearing the puck from his own end (some solid hope for Zub).

There is not going to be any relief until Ottawa is able to start more talent on their blue line.

Naive to think that the 5 players on the other team should just roll over and allow Chabot full freedom to carry or pass the puck at will. Even more silly to think that when Chabot passes to Gudbranson or another stiff, that he will be capable of handling the puck with peek efficiency or even some reasonable facsimile of good NHL Dman.

The reason why Chabot plays 30 minutes is because they have nobody else to pick up the slack.

Occasional we must be watching different games he turns the puck over more then occasionally he does it all game not just when he’s overplayed stop using that as an excuse for his bad defensive plays,
He our #1 guy gets paid big dollars maybe he should work more on his defence first game then trying to carry the team on his back which he isn’t doing 🤦‍♂️

The most common reasons mentioned for Chabot underperforming are too much icetime, weak group of D, doesn't have the right D partner, etc. Although his 2018-19 stats were pretty good, there's a significant drop in performance after. So for anyone who's interested I put a bit of info together for each of the 2018-19 to the present. Maybe it'll support what the majority believe or else.

2018-19: 70 games, 14g, 41a, 55p - ATOI: 24.17
D roster: Ceci, DeMelo, Lajoie, Wolanin, Jaros, Wideman Borowiecki, Harpur, callups D partner DeMelo.

2019-20: 71 games, 6g, 33a, 39p - ATOI: 26.00
D roster: Borowiecki, Hainsey, Reilly, Zaitsev, DeMelo, Brannstrom, England, Jaros, Goloubef, callups
D partner Zaitsev.

2020-21: 33 games, 4g, 17a, 21p - ATOI: 26.32
D roster: Reilly, Zaitsev, Zub, Brannstrom, Gudbransson, Wolanin, Brown, Coburn
D partner Zaitsev

I never once said he turns the puck over because he plays too much. I said he turns it over because he’s trying to make plays.

All the best PMDs in the league ALWAYS have lots of turnovers.......it comes with trying to make plays and create offense.

And that I agree with but all these peeps blaming it on fatigue by over playing him is horse poop
He’s turning pucks over way before fatigue kicks in
I love Chabot but think he just tries and do to much by himself trust your partners only way ya become a pair 🤷‍♂️

And, so, if he does less, who is going to step up and fill in the gap?

Right! Everything gets better as soon as we give Josh Brown, Coburn and Gudbranson more ice time. We can lean on them to skate the puck out of their own end.

Some people actually believe that you can improve the Sens by giving more ice time to Brown, Coburn and Gudbranson.

No, but you can improve them by giving more ice to Reilly and Zub.....and dressing brannstrom and giving some to him also.

So, North Dakota lost to Minnesota Duluth in overtime in the regional finals. Longest game in NCAA playoff history.

Only a 7 day quarantine. I believe Pinto and JBD will be headed directly to Ottawa.

Seen one report saying Ottawa would like for Sanderson to come as well but his situation for next season still remains open. Kleven should stay another year at UND.

"Would expect talks with Shane Pinto and Jacob Bernard-Docker to take place in the next couple of days. No. 5 pick Jake Sanderson will be offered the opportunity to turn pro." #Sens
