You guys may have guessed it's me.

Ek gave me a chance to have this posted. No idea where it goes from here but I'll put out regular content if given the opportunity. Not sure what format posters want:

-game previews

-game summaries

-musings

-something else or a mix?

In a boring season like this, I thought this could be a good place to start. And like I said, this series will also be about which organization pieces are not foundational

This piece is more in the form of Pachla's summer content. And it's an honor to potentially follow that gentleman

This doesn't actually provide any solid argument why Eichel is the guy to build around. Young centers do occasionally get traded, and doing so could address all kinds of other organizational flaws. If other GMs overvalue this player and make a great offer, then you should explore that. You then build a new core around Cozens, Dahlin, Quinn, and all of the pieces you get for Eichel. Ryan Johansen scored 33 and 63 points as a 21-year old. The next year he put 71 points. They took a risk and turned him into Seth Jones, a Norris-type d-man. Eichel's perceived value is far higher than Johansen's ever was. I would be shopping him like crazy. I personally feel he's a loser anyway.

I tried to address that via Guerin's quote about the inability to trade for true #1Cs. I wouldn't put Johansen in that category, personally.

And I realize this is maybe the most polarizing issue currently which is why I wanted to start with it. Disagreement is fun.

If given a chance to do part 2, I think it'll be something more people agree on.

Don't do that to yourself unless things in the organization change. Otherwise you can write about it easily as we've seen the same disfunction on and off the ice for far too long.

Just because teams rarely trade 1C's doesn't mean Buffalo shouldn't do it. If Guerin feels this way then that's the first guy to call. If he offers something like Rossi and a couple of 1sts then you pull the trigger and move on from Eichel. He's a tier higher than Johansen, but at the time, Johansen was a 22-year old stud coming of a 33-goal and 70+ point season. Nashville obviously thought he was a 1C.

I'm firmly in the camp that trading Eichel would be a massive mistake (especially given the current Sabres brain trust).

When he's right, he's a baaad man.

If the Sabres changed their organizational structure, I'd have a bit more faith in a trade being something other than a complete disaster
