I honestly thought Murray got traded because they showed Dorion on the phone. At least wait to see how the guy plays once the team learns how to play defense! lol. That obviously didn't happen, so I'm assuming he just tweaked something in his neck.

Ending scared me a bit because the Sens had 2 solid opportunities at an open net and missed both times!

Hard to imagine how the Oilers have trouble winning anything against the Leafs and the Sens have a winning record against Leafs.

Why are the Leafs a better match for the Sens?

What is about the Oiler game that is so potent against the Sens?

The Leafs think they need another forward to get over the hump this season, I have said even before the latest campaign started that they need another solid defender and a commitment to overall team defense. Turns out I'm right.

Nice win for you guys. Entertaining team. Enjoying watching this young team grow.

Is Thomas Chabot not one of the best defensemen in the league?

Every year we talk about how team defence comes together in the second half of the season for the stretch drive. More important, top contending teams win playoff rounds because they are able to pull together a full team game.

Once again, we get to watch the typical unfolding of the 2nd half Leafs. No need to document this version of the melt down. It is the same as previous years? Is it a forewarning of another Leaf playoff collapse?

I am beginning to feel sorry for the long suffering Leaf fans.

Does anyone else have some pity for these long suffering partisans?

Love this young Sens team. Is there anything from the lesson of the underachieving Leafs that the young Sens need to learn?

I have no pity at all for them. If they weren’t a bunch of arrogant douche nozzles I may but that’s not the case especially on this site. Looking forward to another Leafs first round implosion.

But it is 54 years since the Leafs contended for the Cup. And, how long since they even won a single playoff round?

We have spent so many years laughing at them. Yet, they are good and knowledgable hockey fans. They know they are cheering for a group of fancy skaters who will curtsy and leave the ice as soon as the play gets tough.

They looked like an exceedingly fragile group last night. The Leaf fan base is even more fragile.

We have so much to look forward too with these young Sens. Our souls are filled with hope. Leaf fans started off believing this was their year. Some of their greatest supporters are in rough shape. Before, they didn't know that they didn't know. Now they know.

The Leafs do not have the character to stand up to the physical play offered up by the Sens kids. The more they play, the more the Sens kids will learn how to push them around. No different than their last playoff series against Columbus. They will always win top points for ice dancing artistic impression. But, they will always come up short in the rough and tumble of the free dance.

Could you not offer up even a small sympathetic understanding for these long suffering Leaf fans? They know it is ground day again.

Toronto is a vg+ team, i wouldnt discount them yet. However i only want 1 team to win the rest can all lose in any fashion they feel fits. Im concerned about our own defense, goal tending, pp, line changes, structure, pk, lack of continuity, ownership, gm , coaching staff, marketing staff, pr, .
Until the day when there is sustainable wins and playoffs are a perrenial occurence . The sens have alot of work ahead of them..

No, they’ll come in with the “congrats on winning a meaningless game, but we’ll be in the playoffs” ........but they’ll choose to completely ignore the fact that they’ll once again get bounced in the 1st round

Big win for Ottawa. Not in terms of standings, but in terms of young development. Ottawa showed last night that they can play against and beat the best right now.

The Future is bright.

It is fun following a team that is growing before our eyes. They are very young. They have very good games followed by bad games. They have a great shift and follow it up by blowing up the next time they are on the ice.

But that is one of the appealing aspects of a young team. We should all take time to enjoy the moment. Celebrate the positive. But, don't get downed by the negatives.

Speaking of standings, Buffalo is behind the Sens but has I think five games in hand.

I honestly do not think they will catch them at this point.

We obviously still lack depth, but I'll put our 1st unit PP up against any in the division right now!!

That whole play by Stutzle was really fun to watch - including the quick passes back and forth to create space just prior to 'the move'. Batherson seemed legitimately shocked to receive the pass, but it was still a great shot to the top corner. Nice also to see them continue to push hard right after scoring a goal, with 2 of their goals coming less than a minute after a previous goal. It's pretty bad that they weren't able to add an empty-net goal for over 5min, but good they were able to hold on for the W.

Daccord seems like a pretty authentic and likeable guy - great see him finally rewarded, given that he's been the team's best goaltender over the past while. He's also something of a natural in front of the mic, and it's nice to hear someone with something genuine to say, as opposed to just the stock answers. I'm really thinking he may be the G they protect in the coming draft, just given his contract and the relative quality of his play.

Stuzle and Batherson switching sides on the PP has been brilliant to see. Too bad it took Smith so long to figure that out despite fans and insiders noticing it too. If they ever get a true #1 centre, we may have another CASH line in a year or two…

Daccord has been refreshing to watch. While I’d like to see him play 10 or so NHL games before having a complete opinion on the guy, he just looks confident in goal and seems to genuinely enjoy playing. He has a tremendous work ethic to get better. Some of that was evident looking at offseason videos on social media. Sort of reminds me a little bit of Brian Elliot in terms of his determination to get better, not necessarily in terms of style of play. While he is a little small in goal, his athleticism seems to make up for it. Hopefully, they let him run with the goal for a little bit to gauge what they have.

Man, thank you SO much for this genuine, heartfelt pity. It kinda feels like a guy with no arms taking pity on someone with a hang nail, but I appreciate it nonetheless. You’re the best

I grew up a Leaf fan in Northern Ontario. So, I do have a sense of the repeat anguish that is beginning to reverberate through Leaf nation, once again. I know Leaf fans, for the most part, are good, knowledgable hockey fans. But their disappointment over the years has spilled over and sometimes comes across as the bitterness of excessive self pity.
