Stanley looked solid again. His passing is very accurate for a big man.
Appleton is going to be expensive in a couple of years and that’s a good thing!

Still want Vaisalainen, Gustafson and Harkins as a 4th line just to see the energy and the difference. Not sure what Thompson is bringing to the table that warrants playing every game ???

Little help from the Sens tonight (and the Leafs by playing Hutch), puts the Jets in a great position to inch closer to 1st now having 3 games in hand. Hopefully they win the Habs series and take advantage.

You fellers need a couple of 3-4 D on expiring contacts to push the young guys down and for depth just for this year. Go for it now.

Andersen is no better than Hutchinson at this point, attack first place. See you in the first round.

The Jets have to play the way they did on Saturday in order to keep having success against good teams. They were fortunate that Helly played so well in the 1st two games and stole 3 points. I agree with jjonah about Maurice playing the teams young draft and develop kids ahead of some of the old, slow players now playing.

There are no good teams in this division, just the Jets. The biggest opponent this team has is Paul Maurice. He’s the only piece that is standing between this team and greatness. If they can overcome that internal obstacle the rest of the season should be easy.

It appears we have new d pairings. jmo & Demelo, Pionk and Forbort, Stanley & Poolman (twin towers).

This season is just so screwy, Chicago and Florida are doing pretty damn good yet have pretty terrible lineups especially Florida.
The North Division is wide open, if the Jets can get rolling and play consistently they can take 1st in the division, really need some system changes though imo, the wingers coming so far down low in the D zone is one thing that needs to be changed ASAP, they get burned on point shot deflections far too many times because of it.

I don't think it does. I think it needs better structure. We have a really good defensive core that needs someone to teach better positioning and that improve the breakouts.

Giveaways sunk this ship last night. Pionk, Copp, JoMo, Ehlers, Demelo etc. That was handing the Habs 2 points.

Btw, Demelo is consistently terrible, which seems to be a consistent theme. There is no way I am wasting a protection pick on him for expansion.

Wasn't real happy to see Schiefele butcher up the 2 on 1 with Wheeler. SHOOT THE PUCK when in doubt.

Stanley > Beaulieu
Heinola > Demelo

Vesalainen and Gustafson still don't do anything for me. Not sure what people are seeing aside from their draft positions, but they simply can't skate. Harkins looks good and could probably put up decent numbers in a legitimate role. Gustafson has decent bottom 6 potential, but still has plenty to prove. Ves was used in every offensive role with the Moose, and was generating very little. He has not impressed me one bit in the AHL or NHL. If people still see promise in the former 1st rd'r, perhaps he could be best used as a trading chip.

He is absolutely fighting the puck this season. Not even a shadow of his former self, who never generated much offensive, but kept things clean in the D-zone. Now he is just an offensively liability. Hopefully he finds his game sooner than later.

Idk man, I think saying it's a very good D core is a pretty big overstatement, no doubt better structure and positioning would help but this D core is bottom 10 in the league, probably bottom 5 really.

Your hangup with Vesalainen and Gustafsson's skating is just wierd at this point.. Lol

Again the Jets have plenty of guys that are terrible skaters, Perreault is one of them and he contributes, don't get why you're so focused on those two prospects skating.

Gustafsson is producing well with the Moose btw, he's a ppg player at the moment.

Agree about Stanley and Heinola being better then Beaulieu and DeMelo, DeMelo is just not worth his contract, way too slow, another guy overrated by the fancy stats, hopefully Seattle wants him!

I tend to agree with Jetfuel on this. I think you're overstating their skating issues. I for one think Vesalainen's skating had improved and thought it was a non-issue in the games he's dressed. Gustafsson's skating does kinda look ugly, but I didn't think it put him out of the play? With Vesalainen in particular, I think in seeing him this year, he should definitely be an everyday player (and get a try on PP2), maybe his skill can translate into a poor mans Mark Stone, where his skating is made up with heady play and strong use of his stick/body position in all 3 zones.

Gustafsson is good enough to be our #4 centre right now.

Vesalainen is still not NHL material. Harkins slots in before Ves.

every single piece of information available ( shots, chances, goals and so on ) rank our D this season as such ( don't kill the messenger )
1.Pionk
2.Demelo
then there is a gap
3.Stanley
4/5 forbot and Poolman are very close
then there is another gap
6.Morrisey
7.Niku
then there is another gap
8.Beau

the moral of this, Demelo is good Morrisey is bad.
no matter who plays with Morrisey this year has taken the blame yet, they have all dramatically improved playing with Demelo, this is not a coincidence!!!

we need to realize Morrisey has been horrible, like, next to Beau bad, our worst. he needs to be off top PP and down on third pair, getting third pair minutes.

I hope he recovers but he needs to do that on his own now in less minutes on third pair. its on him.

we should not be trading for a d to help morrisey, help the team first.

Eqholm-Pionk
Heinola-Demelo
Stanley- Poolman
then
ready to fill in
Forbot-Morrisey

this is ideal and if you disagree its because you are focused on the name and expectation not the results

Logan Stanley best Jets LD based on stats this year yet can't take Beaulieu's spot. A great example of draft and development going wrong, because Maurice would rather trust an experienced terrible player that he can throw out for a minute of PK time.

Yup and a players reputation is worth huge minutes to Pomo as well
