3 years 10.5 I'm amazed at how NHL GMs are so reckless and even stupid sometimes, I believe that Binnington Is 28 years old and going Into the season had played only 102 games.

He is for purposes Freddy Anderson and I don't see anyone rushing to give Freddy this kind of deal.

He's the Matt Murray of the west. Yes, I think he's that bad. He's just playing behind a far better team than Murray is in OTT. Bad deal as far as term goes.

I think its a bit too pricey. Not the most horrendous thing ive seen, but 1 mil too high at least.

I feel like this is a perfect example of how advanced stats in the NHL don't translate to on ice results. Todd telling us how Jake Allen has been the better goaltender... but when the two of them played on the exact same roster, it was clear as day that Binnington produced much, much better results. Last in the league with Allen, best in the league with Binnington.

Blues could end up regretting this deal. They could also make playoffs every year of it and win another Cup because of it; and Binnington could have gotten more as a UFA. Both of those being true puts this contract at least on the spectrum of being reasonable.

Agree with most here, not a great deal for the Blues.

I think this is one justified internally by him winning the cup as well as where it would leave the team if they lose him to free agency. It's a shame because they have some solid goaltending prospects who should be ready within 2-3 years (Hofer notably).

Binnington's best asset is his ability to bounce back in big games after a poor showing the game before. But I don't think his overall performance warrants anything close to six years.

$6 million is a bit much for a low rated starter. I assume this is a reward for his short period of excellence a few years ago. There will certainly be better free agent goalies available this summer, most likely willing to sign a shorter term. As the Blues D is slated to decline as the window closes, I anticipate Binnington's upcoming stats will be unfavorable. By year 4, perhaps sooner, this deal will likely be very regrettable.

Is this possibly a sign and trade with Toronto? Maybe not an E4 but like an E2 or something like that?

could be worse like Bobrovsky or price at 10 mil and both have losing playoff records and on decline. 3 years would of been better

I think he is better. He showed flashes of brilliance on the way to the cup and we have not had the same defense since. Binnington will be fine and earn the contract

The defense pipeline is ok. I think the Blues will be very competitive going forward. Defense is not lacking at all. Blues lost Jbow Gunnar and Petro but still have a great defense.

They are just trying to figure things out right now.

Oi Todd, look at the team around him. Without Parayko and without 3 mainstays in our lineup Blues are a depleted team. Still managing to get points. With Krug being a new comer it’s even harder. Binnington will turn out fine. This contract will look good ina few seasons

Here’s a question, Can you name 1 damn team in the league that after losing Bouwmeester Gunnarsson and Petro that can still have a solid defensive core?

Reminds me a lot of Crawford in Chicago. An average goalie that looks better than what he is because he has an amazing team in front of him

Given his current numbers, it is an over payment. But considering he won a cup, which was largely due to his outstanding play, it makes more sense than Murray's. Not a large overpayment, but somewhat risky given his play this season, and last year as well.
