The Jackets now have quite a collection of young defenders who may or may not be good enough to crack the everyday lineup. |

Such minor trades are futile at this point. Torts will hate this trade as this as an offensive defender lacking defensive acumen and afraid to block shots. I assume he will be spending a lot of time sitting on the bench next to Laine.
This situation with Laine closely matches Torts' historic mishandling of both Lecavalier and Luongo. Its long past time for Torts to be removed. Torts must go! |

I like the Jackets top 5 defenders and maybe Carlsson will grab the 6 spot. |

I wonder If Laine will stay If Torts Is out. Laine seems to love California. |

Laine to LA for a couple of young centers (one rostered and one being a prospect) and a 2nd |

If you ever wondered how vastly superior the NHL is to other pro leagues
This was the top goalie in the Finnish elite league twice. Lehtonen was the best defenseman in the KHL twice. Neither guy can crack a roster here

Torts is likely telling Jarmo to trade for Marc Staal. |

Torts' mishandling of Laine only scratches the surface of all the highly questionable moves with really indefensible line combinations, oddball lines in 3v3, sitting your best, most skilled players while playing 3rd & 4th liners in critical game times. He's completely bungled the development of young players, in favor of playing past-their-prime players. They play in fear of making mistakes because they will be stapled to the bench, while other playes constantly make mistakes, get beat, and are not held accountable.
He has all kinds of good, highly skilled players and reduces their TOI to play "grit", "tryers", and players who he feels has "paid their dues". He'll put a 4thC on the 1st line, while he takes 4 centers and puts them on the wings, wings at center !!
I can't make this crap uo - it's really happening here in Columbus.

Sounds alot like Pens complaints with Sullivan. Stuck with Dominic Simon all those years on the top line, and continues to send out Rodrigues for no explicable reason in a top 6 role. Seems at times to pull combos out of a hat and NEVER plays Crosby and Malkin together at the end of a period, or even here and there just to get a spark.
It seems coaches--even the good ones--in hockey all have a shelf life, and Im guessing Torts shelf life has expired |
