I love a good old fashioned Debatel.

Spear to the nuts while wearing a cup hurts, but not career threatening.

Hits to the head are career threatening. Wilson has been suspended a handful of times for similar hits. Wilson is the new Ulf Samuelsson.

Wilson's hit was a direct hit aimed straight at the head and it also came without any provocation from the player he hit.

Ovechkin's spear was a reaction to the player hitting him with a stick, not that he only deserves a fine, but I believe a small suspension like 2 games is in order.

I believe that Wilson's infraction was far worse because it came without provocation and, from what I notice, he was intent on hitting the player in the head. 7 games isn't great, but hopefully it's a start of progressive disciplinary action if he continues to do the same thing.

While I get where you're going with this... there is nothing about a stick to the nads.. that resembles a "Love tap"

Wilson 7 should have been 14. So no, it doesn’t make sense.

Anyone who has played the game knows there is a huge difference between these two examples...

Tom Wilson should be banned from the NHL. He will 100% do something like this again. It is becoming apparent that the players need to protect themselves against him and the best way would be to take him out before he has a chance to end someone’s career. He has no code and no honor and no player should treat him as if he has any.

They were never going to hit Ovie with anything real. He (and many cases Sid) are untouchable in that. Doesn’t change that nutting a guys is less than okay and deserves suspention.

And Wilson...he is lucky the NHL is not concerned about player safety in the least. Because he hasn’t been punished for anything in 18 months he is not considered a repeat offender even though the last time he was it was for over 20 games because of the dangerous nature of his hit? What a garage league that could ultimately destroy itself by lawsuit if and when this idiot ends a career or worse.

A few days ago people in this forum defended Wilson. Absolutely laughable. If this suspension doesnt prove what a piece of trash Wilson is, I dont know what does.

Watch that hit in slow mo. Wilson's eyes are looking right at Carlo's head. He already had speed and he lifted his body up to make the hit. He enjoys this. I think Jankowski got off easy when he got hit last week.

If Chara was still on the Bruins, Wilson wouldnt have a head right now.

Bruins were taking liberties with OV and this is what happens. Right or wrong it was coming and it's good to see Boston get a taste of it. SHould have only been a few games but is what it is.

How MANY times has this been an issue with Wilson. He's a dirty player who starts drooling whenever he sees a player in a vulnerable position with INTENT to injure every time. 20 games should have been more appropriate. Doubt this will change anything with the way he plays, and it's Ovechkin.

It does make sens.

However, when we compare with the hit of Myers on Armia, it doesn't. It confirms that Myers should have been suspended for at least for 2 games...Would have been the case if Armia plays for the Bruins....

This is just typical of the NATIONAL GARBAGE LEAGUE!! In the season opener, Sammy Blais hit Devon Toews of Colorado, gets a penalty and a two game suspension. Toews goes off the ice for concussion protocol and returns at the start of the next period. The suspension was BULLSHIRT!! Two games later in Vegas, Mark Stone not only cross checks Tyler Bozak in the head NOT ONCE BUT TWICE AND GIVES HIM A CONCUSSION (WHICH BOZAK HAS NOT PLAYED SINCE) AND GETS NOTHING, NODA, BECAUSE HE IS THE LEADING SCORER OF THE BLACK KNIGHTS!! COLIN CAMPBELL, MIKE MURPHY, AND THE OTHER DUDE WHO MAKE UP THE CHARGES NEED TO BE FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These THREE STOOGES CONTRIBUTE TO THE REPUTATION OF THE NATIONAL GARBAGE LEAGUE!!!!
